Community Friends
collect groceries for needy
with Marietta Jaycees
The Marietta Jaycees
distributed 11 boxes of
groceries and 14 fruit
baskets to needy and shut
-in persons last week. The
Jaycees did this in conjunc-
tion with the Marietta
Community Friends, a
volunteer organization that
does public service work
around Christmas time.
Money for the gift gro-
ceries came from local
churches and civic groups.
Working through the
Community Friends, such
groups avoid duplication of
effort during the holidays.
The grocery boxes were
packed at Zion Lutheran
Church. Each contained a
turkey, potatoes, pan cake
mix, bread, margarine,
noodles, onions, cereal,
milk, peas, corn, jello,
apple butter, sugar, and
fruit.
Mrs. James R. Baker is |
