Drama at Beahm Jr. High
Elementary students performing Christmas plays
Santa and Scrooge are
coming to W.I. Beahm Jr.
High on December 13th
when Grandview Elemen-
tary School presents their
annual Christmas Musical.
Pre-first and first grade
will present a song drama-
tization entitled ‘‘Jolly
Santa Claus’’ by Alice M.
Snyder. It is the story of
Santa’s visit to a typical
home. He brings magical
toys which turn into living
creatures: dancing dollies,
a top, a teddy bear, and
Mother Goose characters.
Grades five and six will
impersonate the notorious
Ebenezer Scrooge in Val
Cheatham’s operetta
“Ebenezer and Friends.”
The covetous old Scrooge
humbugs Christmas until
he is convinced by his dead
friend Marley and a trio of
Christmas Spirits to mend
his ways. Members of the
cast are: Scrooge, Keith
Mueller; Bob Cratchit, Tom
Longenecker; Marley, Greg
Miller; Christmas spirits,
Leeann Kelly, Jill McKain,
and Karen Wittel; Tiny
Tim, James Darkey; Mrs.
Cratchit, Tina Becker;
Cratchit children, Karen
BPW hears talk on child abuse
Dr. Carl Frey of Mount
Joy spoke to the Mount
Joy Business and Profes-
sional Women’s club at
their last meeting on the
subject of child abuse.
Dr. Frey said that
there are five types of
child abuse: physical,
verbal, emotional, sexual,
and physically neglectful.

The Chiques AAA bas-
ketball league results for
this week are: U.S. Local
5149 beat the Bombers 66
to 47 (top scorer for the
Local was Jim Yeaglin with
44 points; the Bombers’
best was Mike Millar with
16 points). The Celtics de-
feated the Kings 82 to S8.
Top scorers were: Celtics,
Jeff Frey with 38; Kings,
Mark Kelly with 20 points.
Both games were played
at Farmdale.
In volleyball, Sherman’s
beat Herr’s 15-7, 12-15,
15-10. Big L defeated
Donsco’s 15-11, 16-14.
Circle Creek overcame
Columbia Hardware 13-15,
15-9, and 15-7.

Nancy Jo Greenwalt of
RD1 Mount Joy was one of
21 women who recently
pledged Phi Delta Sigma
honorary alumnae sorority
at Albright College in
Reading.

Parents who abuse their
children have, needless to
say, problems. They are
often alcoholics or overly
passive people who are
afraid to be aggressive to
their equals. Anyone
knowing of a case of
child abuse should contact
the Bureau of Children’s
Services in Lancaster.
Dr. Frey was introduc-
ed by Clair Miller. There
was a vocal duet by Miss
Sarah Holsinger and Dan-
iel Holsinger, accompani-
ed by Mrs. Hostetter.
The program was arrang-
ed by the public relations
committee.
Mrs. Earl Koser, presi-
dent, conducted the meet-
ing, at which reports
were received about the
candlelight tour and the
senior citizens’ Christmas
gift project.
DHS Girl of the Month
Debra Ross was intro-
duced by Mrs. Eugene
Eicherly, along with her
mother, Mrs. Michael
Ross.
The December meeting
will be held on Monday
Grubb, Lisa Derr, Marcia
Anspach, Craig Trout, and
Scott Frantz; Boy, Kevin
Hershey; and fund raisers,
Pam Maxfield and Dwight
Yoder.
The musical will be held
Tuesday the 13th at 7:30 in
the Beahm auditorium. It is
directed by Mrs. Patricia
Enos and the Grandview
faculty. Music by Mrs.
Marian Roland.

of
Scouting
confers
degrees
Anthony Frey, Robert
Reed, James Ruhl, and
Dave Raudabaugh recently
graduated from the Univer-
sity of Scouting. They
studied stars, knife and ax
use, rope work, hiking,
cooking, and scout cere-
monies. The outdoor ses-
sions were held at camp
Mack. Robert Miller coor-
dinated.
