The bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F.

graduated from Donegal
High School. She is
employed by Lancaster

Joy.
The bridegroom is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester
E Meyers, 37 W. Donegal

graduate of Donegal High
School, he is employed by

Joy.
Mrs. Cindy Wivell was

marries Roger Hipple
The marriage of Miss
Linda Jo Kauffman to
Roger Keith Hipple took
place Saturday, October 8th
at 6:00 PM at the Church
of the Brethren, Elizabeth-
town, with the Rev. DeWitt
L. Miller officiating.
The bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph C.
Kauffman III, Bainbridge
RD1. She is a graduate of
Elizabethtown High School,
and is employed by Wyeth
Laboratories, Marietta.
The bridegroom is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Perry
W. Hipple, Elizabethtown.
He is a graduate of Eliza-
bethtown High School and
Elizabethtown College,
with a B.A. in communica-
tions. He served with the
U.S. Army for two and a

Gladstone P. Cooley of 127
E. Main St., Mount Joy,
recently celebrated their
S0th wedding anniversary.
The open house party and
family dinner were held at
their home on Sunday and
Saturday.
They were married on
October Sth, 1927, at St.
Mark’s in Mount Joy, by
Rev. Cooley’s late uncle.
Mrs. Cooley, the former
Dorothy Longenecker, met
her husband while they
half years. He is now
employed by Gateway
Communications, Inc., at
WLYH-TV, Lebanon.
Mrs. Barbara Houseal of
Mount Joy was the matron
of honor. Bridesmaids were
Miss Judy Gochnauer and
Miss Barbara Hipple, sister
of the bridegroom, both of
Elizabethtown. Junior
bridesmaid was Miss Susan
Kauffman, sister of the
bride, Bainbridge.
The best man was
Gregory Grogan of Eliza-
bethtown. Ushers were
Jeffrey Millhouse and C.
Edward Seitz, Jr., both of
Elizabethtown, and Phillip
Kauffman, brother of the
bride, of Bainbridge.
The couple will live in
Elizabethtown.
S0th anniversary
were both students at Leb-
anon Valley College. She
taught high school in New
Jersey for a time after
graduating.
Rev. Cooley is also a
graduate of Princeton The-
ological Seminary. For 26
years he was pastor of the
First Presbyterian Church
of Berwick.
They have two daugh-
ters: Mrs. Richard Pardoe,
Hellam, and Mrs. Earl
Henry, Binghamton, N.Y.
There are three grand-
children.
Model Masters
will hold sub sale this week
The Marietta Model
Masters club is conducting
a sub sale this week, with
delivery scheduled before
noon on Saturday the 15th.
If you expect to eat that
day, and haven’t been
contacted by a club
member, call Jim Palmer at
426-2193 to order; or, go
to the Community House
before 11:30 AM.
Marietta Auxilliary to Columbia Hospital meets
Miss Mildred Zink, cur-
ator of the herb garden at
Donegal Mills Plantation,
was guest speaker for the
luncheon meeting of the
Marietta Branch Auxilliary
to the Columbia Hospital
held at Lacy’s Lounge.
Miss Zink mentioned there
are three categories of
herbs, culinary, medicinal
and aromatic.
Included in the kitchen
(culinary) types are chives,
mints, tarragon, thyme,
and oregano. Among medi-
cinal herbs can be found
feverfeu, hysop and worm-
wood, while, listed in the
aromatic species are Lav-
endar, Rosmary, etc. Sam-
ples of these various plants
were displayed by the
speaker who also supplied
samples to those attending.
Mrs. Joseph Gilmartin,
president conducted the
business session and ex-
tended a greeting, Mrs,
Ralph Miller, secretary,
presented the year’s pro-
gram and noted the
scheduled public card party
on Tuesday, October 11, in
the Marietta Community
House as the first benefit.
The event will begin at 8
p.m. and will feature
pinocle. Lunch and prizes
will be available. Mrs.
George Houseal and Mrs.
William Heisey are co-
chairladies of the party to
which the public is invited.
The treasurers report
included the recent contri-
bution to the Columbia
Hospital of $1,000 toward
the five year pledge of
$5,000. The Auxilliary has
paid $2,900 of its original
pledge.
The October meeting will
be held on Monday 10, at
the Columbia Hospital
where the group will have
lunch in the cafeteria at
12:30 p.m. Members and
guests are invited.
The December tea will
be held at the home of
Mrs. Ralph Miller on the
12th. Mrs. Joseph Carroll
will be hostess for the
January 9, meeting. The
February 13, meeting with
be at the home of Miss
Elsie McCloskey. Mrs.
William Heisey and Mrs.
George Houseal are co--
hosteses for the March 13
session and Mrs. Alfred
Buell and Mrs. James
Baker will be co-hostesses
at the April 10 meeting.
Mrs. Herbert Sarven,
Mount Joy, R.D. #1 will
entertain members at her
home on May 8, and the
final session of the year
will be held in the Board of
Directors Room at the
Columbia Hospital at 12
noon with a fee of $2.00.
Hoagies
A hoagie sale, to benefit
the Donegal Band Club,
will be held on Saturday
the 15th. Orders can be
placed with any member.
Profits will go to pay for
a spring band trip.
