It was the first contest ever played under Donegal’s new lights, and a roaring crowd estimated at 800 to 1100 people turned out for the spec- tacle. The alumni were divided into two teams: those who graduated in even-number- ed years, and those who graduated in odd years. Both teams practiced to- gether under the direction of Rick Breault and Scott Maderea, who acted as player-coaches for the Odd team. Kent Zangari and Walt Price coached the Even team during the game and the week pre- ceeding it. The Evens scored first. Quarterback Randy Richards hurled a 19 yard scoring pass to receiver John Shrum. The Evens went for two extra points, but were thwarted by defender Bob Carroll, who intercepted an attempted pass. The Odds scored next when their quarterback, John Yohe, capped a long drive with a 1 yard quarter- back sneak across the goal line. Daryl Houseal scored another two points for the Odd team when he carried the ball into the end zone on an option play. The score was still 8-6, with the Odds leading, at halftime. In the third quarter, the Evens marched down the field with a combined air and ground attack. Richards and his receivers, Shrum and Ken Derr, picked up a lot of yardage. Then Richards ran a keeper around the right from five yards out, and scored. An attempt to pick up two extra points failed, and the score was 12-8, in favor of the Evens. No one managed to score in the 4th quarter, and the game ended, 12-8. Even quarterback Randy Richards threw 10 passes and completed 8. He gained a total of 90 yards passing. Leading ground gainers were the Even’s Denny Buzz Yohe scores a touchdown The alumni cheerleaders looking good under the new lights Gohn, who picked ap 53 yards in 11 carries, and the Odd’s Denny Goodhart, who gained S53 yards on 14 carries. The game was sponsored by the Parents Football Booster Club, and was coordinated by Kent Zangari and Walt Price.
