PP&L won’t disconnect welfare recipients
PP&L has announced
that it will not knowingly
disconnect state employ-
ees and welfare recipients
who have not received their
checks.
Herbert Nash, PP&L vice
president, says, ‘“We’'re
trying to balance two dif-
ficult situations. One the
one hand, we have people
already in bad financial
straits who, through no
fault of their own, now
face additional hardships.
On the other, we have
millions of dollars in over-
due bills which, if not
recovered, eventually will
have to be borne by
customers who do pay their
bills on time.”
Late payment charges
will not be waived, indeed
cannot legally be waived.
They are part of the official
tariffs approved by the
PUC.
By order of the PUC the
grace period has been
extended from 15 days to
20 days for late charges. .
