Dog training
regulations
Many dogs and hunters
are out of shape. This is
not just our opinion. We
received this information
from the Pennsylvania
Game Commission which
has announced that dog
training season opened
August 1 and will continue
until next March 31. Dogs
may be trained from sun-
rise to 9 p.m. EST from
August 1 through March
31, 1978. To train dogs on
Sunday, the consent of the
owner of the property must
first be obtained, unless
the dogs are to be trained
on state-owned and nation-
al forest lands.
! No rifles or shotguns
may be carried while train-
ing dogs.

summer season to end at
the top of the league, and
Donegal finished in the
second position. Both
teams then went on to win
their semi-final play-off
games to qualify for the
championship game.
It was the Shamrocks
‘“stonewall’”’ defense that
determined the games out-
come. The normally high
scoring Whiz Kids were
held to nearly thirty points
below their season’s
average, which led to their
defeat.
The game was played

Pvt. Samuel C. Edye participating in
‘Hometown Recruiter Program’
Private Samuel C. Edye,
of Mount Joy, has been
selected to participate in
the Army’s ‘‘Hometown
Recruiter’ program, which
allows young soldiers to
return to their hometown
on 30-day assignments as
aides to local recruiters.
The ‘“Hometown
Recruiter’’ program has
been so successful that
current plans are to assign
about S50 hometown re-
cruiters a month through-
out the country for the
remainder of this year and
1978.
Pvt. Edye will be work-
ing with the Army recruit-
ers in Elizabethtown prior
to reporting to Germany,
where he will be assigned
as a wheeled vehicle
mechanic.
A 1976 graduate of
Milton Hershey High
School, Edye entered the
Army in April and com-
pleted his basic and
advanced individual train-
ing at Fort Dix, New
Jersey.
According to SFC Joe
Burciaga, Army recruiter at
the Elizabethtown Recruit-
ing Station, Pvt. Edye’s
main objective is to tell
young men and women
with no prior service what
the first few months in the
Army was about.
