Many of the local 4H’ers brought in projects to be displayed and judged. The clubs represented were: First Year Sewing; Start Stiching, Second Year Sewing; Pattern for a Skirt, Third Year Sewing; Stich an Outfit, Fourth and Fith Year; Making a Dress; First Year Foods; Tricks for Treats, Second Year Foods; Adventure in Foods, Third Year Foods; Mealtime Magic, Fourth Year Foods; and Foods With Interna- tional Flavor. There was also Crochet- ing, Crafts, Macrame, Wildflowers, and Cake Decorating clubs. The girls in the sewing clubs model- ed the skirts and dresses that they had made throughout the year. The other clubs had displays and judging of their projects. In the cake decorating a tie was de- clared for first place be- tween Robin Esbenshade and Kathy Kulp. Friendship Fire Co. The Monthly meeting of Friendship Fire Co. No 1, Mount Joy was held Thursday, July 7 at 7:30 p.m. Chief Frank Good report- ed the following calls for June: 6/2 Dumpster fire at the Meadows Apts.; 6/5 Vehic- le accident Route 283; 6/14 Train/truck accident Eby Chiques Road at the cross- ing; 6/16 Car fire at 47 Frank St.; 6/24 Smoke scare at Harvestview Apts.; and 6/28 Transformer fire on Square St. behind John- son’s Bus Service. In addition the company answered 3 public service calls. The department has answered 48 fire calls and 18 service calls to date, this year. The ambulance re- sponded to 30 calls in June. The following persons were taken into the dept. as emergency medical per- sonell: Anne Newcomer, Pat Moran, Jean Germer, Beth Gage, Linda Rice, and Sally Wagner. The meeting was journed at 8:25 p.m. ad- Pig and Rabbit Club meets by Bruce Sipling The Elizabethtown Pig and Rabbit Club held their Sth meeting of the year. During roll call we answer- ed by telling the ear notch of one of your pigs. The secretary, Thomas Baum, read the minutes and they stood approved as read. We have approxi- mately $40 in our treasury. There was no old business. We talked about having a float at the Manheim Fair. We voted on it and it was not approved. “a dass aa . We are going to have a club picnic on August 16th, at E-Town. Brian Ebersole gave a report on parts of a pig. Joyce Wagner gave a re- port on how to show a pig. Jeff Wagner showed how to fit a pig and Barry Heisey followed with a quiz on pigs. Miss Linda France from the extension office was our speical guest. We sang a song and the meet- ing was adjourned and re- freshments were served.
