Gary Newton
is new youth pastor
**Jesus Christ is the
answer to people's needs;
but we as a church must
demonstrate in a down-to-
-earth way how Jesus
Christ can meet those
needs,’ says Gary Newton.
Gary is the new assistant
pastor at the Congrega-
tional Bible Church in
Marietta —his official title
is Pastor of Christian Edu-
cation and Youth —and
he’s been here three weeks
now. As the name implies,
his major duties will in-
volve working with young
people.
Gary comes to Marietta
by way of Halifax, Nova
Scotia (his birthplace),
Education at Houghton,
then got an M.A. from
Trinity Seminary in Chi
cago.
Gary's wife Joy, 24,
whom he met at Houghton,
will be assisting him in his
work here. She hopes to
attend Millersville State for
a Masters in counseling.
Gary will be spending a
lot of time at the church
Youth Center on Front
Street. He also is involved
in directing the summer
camp in Honeybrook, PA.
Next year, Gary would like
to have an all-summer-long
program for local youth.
“My goal is to develop a
more creative ministry to
the needs of young people
