Pianist Andre Watts will be the soloist with the Lancaster Symphony Or- chestra for an outdoor concert at 8 p.m. Internationally acclaimed as one of the most talented pianists in the world today and one of the highest paid, Watts is donating his talents for the concert which is sponsored by the Lancaster Summer Arts Festival. This will be Watts’ fourth appearance with the Lancaster Symphony under the direction of Louis Vyner. It was in Lancaster in 1957 when he was 10 years old that Waits made his dedut as a soloist with a symphony orchestra. According to Vyner, Watts is one of the youngest concert artists to have attained such wide recognition. He has ap- peared 10 times on the concert stage of Lincoln Center in New York City, far more often than any other artist, and he is the youngest artist ever to receive an honorary music degree from Yale Univer- sity. Long Park provides a perfect setting for an out- door concert with its sweep of lawn sloping gently toward the amphitheater, large enough to accommo- date thousands of people comfortably if they bring their own folding chairs or. blankets. Tall shade trees and picnic tables provide space - for picnicking before the concert. Plenty of free parking is available at the Park City Shopping Center directly across the high- way. The park and the shop- ping center are located at the intersection of route 30 and the Old Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster exit of route 30.
