County buys
84 acres
on Chickies
—pays 299,000 dollars
Last Thursday, Lancaster
County purchased 84 acres
of land on Chickies hill.
The land is intended for
the Chickies Park which
was decreed several
months ago.
The County Commissioners
have no plans to develop
the land immediately.
The newly purchased
area consists mostly of
farmland. It is unlikely,
however, that a farmer
could have bought the land
at that price for the
purpose of raising crops;
missioners. Auctioneer was
Harold Keller.
First Aid
course to be given
in Marietta
On July S & 6, 1977 the
Standard—Multimedia
System First Aid Course
will be given at the
Marietta Community House
Gym. The objective of the
course is to teach people
the elements of first aid so
that they can perform
satisfactorily in the event of
an emergency. :
The course will be held
from 6:00 p.m. .to 10:00
p.m. The course consists of
20 film segments, 17 prac-
tice sessions, and 13 work-
book lessons. The course
will last 4 hours each night.
Attendance both nights is
required to be eligible for
416 W. Market St., Mari-
etta. Bailey, a Red Cross
instructor and Emergency
Medical Technician, is also
crew chief of the Marietta
Ambulance.
The course is open to the
general public. Those in-
terested can register by
calling Steve Bailey at
426-3810.
Students in the course
will be taught basic first
aid for the following;
Wounds, Shock, Artificial
Respiration, Poisoning,
Burns, Ill Effects of Heat
and Cold, Bandaging, Im-
mobilization, Simple Faint-
ing, Epilepsy, Foreign Ob-

in the stadium. Mary
Kanoff sang The Star
Spangled Banner before
the invocation by Rev.
Canon Donald M. White-
sel, rector of St. Luke's
Episcopal Church, Mount
Joy.
Hollis Baker played a
baritone saxophone solo,
followed by by an oral
presentation by ten mem-
bers of the graduating
class: Philip Good, Sharon
Bryant, Cynthia Emen-
heiser, Cynthia Charles,
Emily Lesher, Lucretia Tru-
ett, Don Strohm, Gregory
Lindemuth, Jacob Sherk,
Barbara Landis.
Cynthia Charles sang a
solo accompanied by Cyn-
thia Emenheiser.
