Madsens win Home of Month award Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Madsen, of 31 W. Market Street, Marietta, were awarded the ‘‘Home of the Month’’ certificate by the Marietta Restoration Asso- ciates. The original structure was built of logs in 1796. In recent years it was owned by Edgar Villes, a printer. In 1971 it was bought by John DeVitry who began restoring it. The present owners have continued that job with a contemporary accent. All the work on the house has been done by Wayne. In the old print shop the Madsens have opened a craft shop featur- ing pottery and jewelry. It’s called, ‘The Print Shop.’ The basement has an unusual corner walk-in fireplace. The Madsens plan to hold pottery classes in this area. They also plan to turn the third floor into a studio. Jackie Madsen is an elementary art teacher in Steelton and also teaches classes at Chateau Art in Marietta. Wayne is a student at the York Aca- demy of Art, studying commercial and advertising art, and has been doing freelance photography and graphic design.
