McCue is employed at Tank Truck Rentals, Lan- caster, where he is Payroll Supervisor and responsible for quarterly and yearend Hollis Baker taxes. McCue was one of a group of Mount Joy men to envision Kunkle Field and the boro park as it is today. Local Vo-Tech students receive top awards On Monday, May 2, 1977 the 31st Annual National Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) Career Development Con- ference closed in Anaheim, California with a local Mount Jy Vo-Tech and Manheim Central student receiving a top National Award. Vickie Schilling, daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. Wil- liam Schilling, 357 Elwyn Terrace, Manheim, won a second place national award for her 60 page marketing research study on floor covering. She was entered in the Studies in Marketing, Home Furnish- ings category which was sponsored by Gehman’s Furniture & Interiors of Mount Joy. Vickie won first place in the State competition in March. At the National competition, April 26 to May 2, she competed with over 6,000 Distributive Education students from all 50 states, Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia, and Guam. These delegates re- present over 180,000 Dis- tributive Education stu- dents in%he country. Her 60 page report titled “Wall to Wall’ was judged on Marketing research techniques, visual sales appeal, topic, depth of study, originality and pur- pose. The project took over 600 hours to complete and included a telephone sur- vey of residents of the Central Lancaster County Area. The Distributive Educa- tion and DECA program prepares students for more than seventy different jobs and careers related to mar- keting goods and services. The high school and voca- tional-technical school pro- grams offer classroom in- struction in subjects such as: Advertising, Visual Dis- play, Communications, Hu- man Relations, Salesman- ship, Merchandising, Man- agement, Product and Ser- vice Knowledge, Merchan- dising Mathematics and Small Business Operations. Students display their ex- pertise in these subject areas by participating in DECA competition which is judged by business and marketing professionals. Mount Joy Distributive Education was one of four schools from the state of PA that received national recognition out of over 200 D.E. programs. Stephen Kachniasz is the instructor of the Mount Joy Vo-Tech School’s Distribu- tive Education program. Stacy Miller candidate for Keystone Girls State Miss Stacy Miller, a junior at Donegal High School, has been selected as Mount Joy American Legion Auxiliary, Walter S. Ebersole, Unit #185’s can- didate for Keystome Girls State. Girls State is an ‘‘Exper- ience in Government’’ held annually at Shippensburg State College, Shippens- burg, Pa., where about 300 girls are brought together to study government, city, county, and state, as it ecists in the common- wealth. This year the 32nd session of Keystone Girls State will be held June 19-26th. The citizens elect their own officials including a govenor and lieutenant governor, a Senator and Representative are also elected at represent Key- stone Girls State on a National level, at Girls Nation to be held in Washington, D.C. Miss Miller is the daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Miller, 111 Delta St., Mount Joy. She is on the Junior Class Executive Committee, a member of the tennis team, and a football/basketball cheer- leader. She was currently "elected to the National Honor Society.
