Eagle kits awarded Last Wednesday three boys became Eagle Scouts at the Rheems Fire Hall. David L. Rice, Randy Snyder, and his brother, Rodney Snyder, were pre- sented with their Eagle Scout awards by Gerry Alleman, Western District Advancement Chairman. All three boys are members of troop 36, Rheems, led by scoutmaster A. Lawrence Floyd. David Rice started as a Cub Scout in November of 1970 in Marietta, Georgia. As a cub he earned the ‘““Arrow of Light,”’ the highest award in that branch of scouting. He joined the boy scouts in February 1974. He has earned 34 merit badges and has served as patrol leader, scribe, and quartermaster. He is a nominee for the ‘‘Order of the Arrow.”’ An honor roll student, band member, and runner on the J.V. track team, he attends the Christ Lutheran Church of E-town. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack L. Rice, R.D. #1, Eliz- abethtown. Randy, 17, is a junior at Elizabethtown Area High School. He is a member of the Varsity Track and Cross Country Team. He plays trumpet in the EAHS Band. He is a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and attends the Youth Fellowship. He swims with the Willowood Swim Team in the summer. Randy has attended Camp J. Edward Mack the past 6 years and is a member of Wunita Gokhos Order of the Arrow. He attended the National Jam- boree at Moraine State Park in 1973 and plans to attend again this year. Rodney, 14, is a fresh- man at Elizabethtown Area High School. He plays Baritone in the EAHS Band. He is a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and is active with the Youth Group. He swims with the Willowood Swim Team in the summer. Rodney has attended Camp J. Edward Mack the past 4 years and has been tapped out of Waunita Gokhos Order of the Ar- row. He attended the first Brownsea Double II, Senior Patrol Leaders Camp in 1976 and is going to attend the National Jamboree at Moraine this year. Rodney has earned a total of S50 Merit badges and 12 Skill Awards. Band Parents continue paper drives The Donegal Band Par- ents Club will continue to conduct paper drives, with the May one scheduled for Saturday, 21, from 8 to 10 a.m. Scrap paper may be Outstanding woman will be honored by Sharon Funk The Mount Joy Joycee- ettes are hostessing a tea Sunday, May 15, from 3 to 5 P.M.at Hostetters Ban- quet Hall in Mount Joy, honoring the community’s women’s organizations. The highlight of the afternoon will be the pre- sentation of an award to the woman in Mount Joy who has shown outstanding leadership and contribution to the community. Nomin- ations were received from various clubs and judged by a panel of six area club members. The 3rd annual award will be presented by Mrs. Ethel Foley, last year’s recipient. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Shimko celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on May Sth. taken to Riverview Ele- mentary, Maytown Ele- mentary, or Donegal High School. Earl Brightbill is chair- man of the project and expresses his gratitude to residents in the Donegal District who have contri- buted in the past and en- courages their donations of paper in the future. Regular collections will be conducted in the fall and will continue every other month during the school term, on the third Saturdays, with September as the first fall collection date. The summer schedule for the Donegal High School Band includes the Memor- ial Day Parade at Mount Joy and Maytown and the Firemans parade in Colum- bia on June 4. Band camp will be held at Gettysburg College on August 1S thru 20. The first football game will be held on September 2, with Lebanon Catholic.
