Members of Zion Luther-
an Church Women will
sponsor a chicken corn
soup and bake sale on
Saturday, April 30, begin-
ning at 10 a.m., in the
church. Soup is priced at
$1.25 per quart and can be
eaten on the spot or carried
home. Mrs. Richard Haas
is chairperson of the soup
project.
A home made sale of
salads, candy, cupcakes,
layer cakes, pies, etc., will
be supervised by Mrs.
Jacob Lindemuth, Jr. and
Mrs. Wilbur Haas.
The group is also selling
pepper, cinnamon, and
vanilla.
St. Mark’s activities
The Pastor and the
Council of Ministries of St.
Mark’s United Methodist
Church, Mount Joy, an-
nounce an outstanding pro-
gram of events and opport-
unities during the month of
May, 1977.
Sunday Worship features
a variety of emphases in-
cluding Evangelism (May
1st), Mother's Day &
Family (May 8th), Anni-
versary Day and honoring
of 50-year members (May
15th), Aldersgate Sunday
(May 22nd), and Pentecost
with Confirmation (May
20th).
Opportunity for congreg-
ational visitation will be.
given on May 1st as mem-
bers will be asked to accept
assignments for the friend-
ly visitation of the sick,
shut-ins, and delinquent
families. On May’s second
Sunday, Mary Ellen Koh-
ler, wife of the pastor, will
be the special Mother's
Day speaker, and the
children’s choir will sing.
The Anniversary Sunday
congregation will hear a
number of special selec-
tions by a choir made up of
the present Chancel Choir
and many who previously
sang. on, the, choir., Sharon
Givler, the church’s Assoc-
iate in Ministry, will pre-
sent a message on May's
fourth Sunday. After serv-
ing St. Mark’s congrega-
tion for almost a year,
Sharon will use the opport-
unity to reflect on her work
in ministry. On Pentecost
(29th) the Confirmation
Class of 1976-77, number-
ing S, will be received into
full membership in a ser-
vice with the laying-on-of-
hands. Members of pre-
vious Confirmation Classes,
110 in all, are special
guests of the day.
The Sacrament of Infai.
Baptism will be adminis-
tered on Mother’s Day, and
new members will be re-
ceived on Anniversary Sun-
day.
A retreat for youth will
be held in Perry County
over the weekend of May 6
to 8 under the direction of
Sharon Givler and adult
advisers of youth.
Family Night programs
continue through May to be
held every Wednesday
evening from 7 to 8:15
p.m.
The community is invited
to participate in all these
events.
