Art at
Penn State
The inventive genius and
foresight of Lenardo da
Vinci is depicted in an
exhibition running April 20
thru May 20 in the Gallery
Lounge at Penn State
Capitol Campus.
The exhibition of the
15th century artist-
scientist’s work is on loan
from the IBM Corporation.
Twenty-two models built
from Leonardo’s scientific
and technical drawings will
be on display.
Both practical and theo-
retical devices will be
shown. Among them are a
paddlewheel ship, a theo-
retical gear system that
produces three speeds of
rotation, an ornithopter to
aid propulsion in flying, an
armored tank, a scaling
ladder, and a hygrometer
for measuring humidity.
Many of these devices were
never realized until the last
century.
The exhibit is free and
the public is invited.
