Spring Obituary CHARLES HAY SLOAD Charles Hay Sload, 82, a retired blacksmith, died Sunday at 10 a.m., at Fairview Manor Nursing Home, Columbia, after a lengthy illness. ‘He was the hushand of the late Mildred Smith’ Sload who died in 1975. His first wife, Esther Flowers Sload, died in 1931. Sload is a former resident of Maytown. Before his retirement, Sload worked as a traveling blacksmith in the Ronks area. FA He served during World War I as a blacksmith in the 3rd field artillery in France. A member of United Church of Christ, Maytown he also belonged to Reese Hall Veterans of Foreign Wars 8757, Mountville. Born in Maytown, he was the son of the late Warren and Sara Roath Sload. He is survived by the following children: Anna, wife of Lester Wolgemuth, Mount Joy Rl; Charles Sload, Marietta; Charlotte, wife of Judsan W.
