First Federal joins M J Merchants
The First Federal Savings and Loan Association of
Lancaster, Mount Joy Branch, has been admitted as the
40th member of the Mount Joy Merchants’ Association.
The new membership was announced at a recent
Merchants’ Association meeting by President Jim Ro-
berts of Western Auto, Mount Joy.
Representing First Federal at the meeting was
Thomas R. Sheaffer, shown above. Tom is the Branch
Manager and Assistant Treasurer of First Federal.
School ends June 15
The Donegal School
Board has set June 15th as
the last day of the 1976-77
term. The school will use
April 11 as one of its
makeup days. The extra
days are due to the 2 day
strike, 2 snow days, and 3
days by the Governor's
edict. Baccalaureate is
scheduled for Sunday, June
12th, and Commencement
for June 13th.
In other business at
Thursday's meeting, the
board decided to contact
Buchart Architects and En-
gineers concerning roof
repairs at the high school
and the heating plant at
the junior high school. The
Board Committee Annual
Building tour was conduct-
ed March 10th, with priori-
ties placed on each district
building requests as: A -
necessary; B - possible
long term borrowing or
loan issue; and C - can wait
or to be done by local
custodial maintenance
staff. The Board budget
review meetings for the
1977-78 budget will get
underway Thursday, April
7.
The board awarded 1.U.
13 purchasing bids to: L.B.
Herr - $5595.31; Kustz
Bros. - $198.08; Clinton
Paper Co. - $2426.04;
Garrett-Vuchanan -
$265.72; Tursch - $312.00.
The total was $8797.0S. - to
advertise for bids for mow-
ing grass at Grandview,
Seiler and W.I. Beahm
Junior High again this
year, with bids due April
14 to be awarded at the
April 21 Board meeting.
The board reserves the
right to award the bids on
separate contracts for each
school rather than one
blanket contract, to adver-
tise specifications for bid-
ding Donegal’s Art, Wood
shop, Metal Shop, Lumber
Supplies, Custodial Sup-
plies, Light Bulbs with bids
due by April 14 to be
awarded April 21. The
Donegal School Board
granted the Mount Joy
Borough Authority's re-
quest for exemption of
taxes in the amount of
$490, on recently aquired
properties in the Mount
Joy Water Improvement
Project.
Open House and Dedica-
tion ceremonies for the new
elementary building at
Kraybill’s Mennonite
School will be held Sunday,
March 27.
Dedication ceremonies
will begin at 2 p.m. and
Open House at 3:30 p.m.
The new elementray build-
ing houses Kindergarten
through fifth grades. The
public is cordially invited to
attend.
Rummage & bake sale
Chiques United Metho-
dist Church will hold a
rummage and bank sale on
Saturday, March 26, at the
Salunga Fire Hall from 9:00
a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in
addition to the normal
rummage items and baked
goods there will be a
‘‘White Elephant’’ table
and flower stand. Sand-
whiches and coffee will be
sold. Members and friends
are asked to bring items
they wish to donate to the
fire hall on Friday evening
between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m.
Chiques United Metho-
dist Church of Mount Joy,
plans to hold their bazaar
on Nov. 12, 1977 at the
Florin Fire Hall.
