Mount Joy’s request
The Susquehanna River
Basin Commission has ini-
tiated review of a request
by the Mount Joy Borough
Authority to develop two
wells that it owns with a
combined safe yield of 1.6
MGD and construct a 3.5
MGD water softening
plant, transmission facil-
ities, and a 1.0 MGD steel
standpipe. The use of these
two wells is part of a plan
for continued development
of the groundwater re-
sources to meet the
Authority’s projected water
supply demands.
The Commission will
schedule a public hearing
to receive pertinent testi-
mony from the project
sponsor and other interest-

will provide a basis for
developing findings and
conclusions by the Com-
mission with regard to
permit issuance. The
Commission’s public hear-
ing procedure permits the
project applicant to respond
to testimony submitted by
others, as appropriate. At
least thirty days notice will
be provided by the Com-
mission before the public
hearing.
