Scout leaders visit Georgia
Twnety-nine adults from
Penn Laurel Girl Scout
Council visited the birth
place of Juliette Low,
founder of Girl Scouts, in
Savannah, Georgia, Feb-
ruary 11-14.
Mrs. Low’s niece, Mary
Stuart, came as special
guest to tour the home with
the local adults while they
were on tour. She lived in
the Gorgon home as a child
and was one of Juliette's
favorite niece’s.
An investiture ceremony
followed the tour for three
new scouts in the group.
All those taking the tour

received a ‘‘birthplace pin’
during the ceremony.
The group also toured
the home where ‘‘Daisy”
lived after she married
William Low. There it was
that she established the
first girl scout headquar-
ters, in the carriage house.
Two local women from
Donegal Neighborhood
were members of the tour:
Ella Gainer, co-leader of
Junior Troop #32 Mount
Joy, and Nancy Kopf,
co-leader of Junior Troop
#32 and the Donegal
Neighborhood Coordinator.
‘Thinking Day’
“Thinking Day’’, was the
theme for the program of
Donegal Neighborhood of
Girl Scouts, Penn Laurel
Council Inc. on Sunday,
February 20, at Glossbren-
er United Methodist

Church, Mount Joy. Troops
from Mount Joy, Maytown
and Marietta participated
in the annual event.

Fire
On Thursday, Feb. 17, at
2:48 p.m., the Friendship
Fire Co. responded to a car
fire on the Manheim-
Mount Joy Road at Rt. 283.
The fire occured in a
junked 1976 Audi-Fox
which was being towed to
the Central Penn Salvage
Pool in Yorkhaven for
scrap. The car was in
flames when Friendship
arrived.
Chief Good discovered
that the fire was caused by
faulty wiring in the motor
compartment. Estimated
damage to the 1976 junked
car was $300.

week-long course

long, three-phase educa-
tional meeting of the Real-
tors Institute of the Penn-
sylvania Association of
Realtors, at the Hershey
Motor Lodge recently.

complete all three courses
of 30 hours each, will
receive the designation
““GRI"’ (Graduate, Realtors
Institute).
