An interesting and diver-
sified calender of church
activities for the month of
February is announced by
the Council on Ministries of
St. Mark’s United Metho-
dist Church, Mount Joy.
The preaching schedule
of the Pastor, W. Richard
Kohler, includes a series of
three sermons: ‘‘Needed:
Precursors!’’ (Feb 6th),
“Needed: Prompters!”’
(Feb. 13th), and ‘‘Needed:
Priests!”” (Feb. 20th). On
the~27th the youth of the
congregation will have
charge of the worship hour
at 10:15. The theme is
“The Demands of Lent: I.
Obedience!’’ A youth choir
will sing on this occasion.
Each Wednesday even-
ing the church continues a
successful Family Night
Program for 7:00 to 8:15.
There are children’s choir
rehearsals, activities for
children and youth, and a
discussion group for adults
during this period.
Two special Sunday
evening activities are sche-
duled for February. On the
13th beginning at 6:00 p.m.
there will be a youth-
sponsored ‘“‘Sweetheart
Program & Buffet” for
couples of the Church with
Dr. Jerry Kauffman as the
special speaker of the
evening. On the 27th, at 7
p.m. in the sanctuary, the
musical group called ‘‘The
Foundations’ will be fea-
tured.
The season of Lent
begins with Ash Wednes-
day on the 23rd. There will
be a Breakfast/Communion
open to anyone at 6:30
a.m. in the church’s Prayer
Room on that day. On the
First Sunday of Lent, Feb.
27th, the congregation will
launch a special Talent
Program in which members
will be given money to test
the biblical promise of
talents invested.
Organizational meetings
during the month include
the Worship and Preaching
Commission, the Steward-
ship & Finance Commis-
sion, the Evangelism
Commission, and the
Council on Ministries.
United Methodist Women
have their monthly pro-
gram on Tuesday, Feb.
9th, at 7:30 p.m.
The community is invited
to be part of any or all of
these activities.
Sauerkraut dinner
The 40th annual home
made sauerkraut dinner,
sponsored by the Zion
United Church of Christ,
Marietta, will be held on
Saturday, February S, from
11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Donation for the benefit
will be $2.50 for adults and
$1.25 for children.
