Page 12—SUSQUEHANNA TIMES TV newsman, Andy Farmer, speaks to Mount Joy Merchants Association N Andy Farmer The Mount Joy Mer- chants’ Association held their annual dinner ban- quet last Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. at Hostetter’s Dining Hall. Andy Farmer, of TV Channel 15, was guest speaker. Mr. Farmer told the group about the ins and outs of running a relatively small television station. His office is in Park City and it is his responsibility to cover the Lancaster news for channel 15. Mr. Farmer told the merchants that he must write about three or four news stories every day and that his office is basically a one-man operation. Be- cause he gathers the Lan- caster County news himself he is sometimes beset by problems like deciding which of two simultaneous news-worthy events to cov- er. He impressed upon the group that help from local citizens (keeping him up to date on what's happening in their communities) is always appreciated. In response to the ques- tion, ‘“Which story did you enjoy doing most.” Andy told the merchants about a young man with one leg amputated who bicycled from California to New Jersey, touching both the Pacific and Atlantic O- ceans. He noted that hu- Exchange students at Donegal learn our customs, survive cold Oili Joenpara Cold enough for Ya? Don’t complain if you live in Lancaster County. It’s colder some other places. For example, Vesajirve, Finland. Oili Joenpara, an ex- change student at DHS, comes from Vesajirve. This year$ cold and snow are nothing to her. Vesajirve is as far north as the Yukon Territory, and the people there enjoy winter sports of necessity, and Oili is no exception. She likes skiing and ice skating. Ilsa Morales B.B.
