Vo-tech youths get leadership certificates
Thirteen students from
the Mount Joy Vo-Tech
School were presented
certificates on Tuesday,
December 14, for success-
fully completing the Youth
Leadership Program.
{ Youth Leadership Pro-
-grams are sponsored by
Toastmasters Clubs. John
Harnish of the Conestoga
Toastmasters Club 1090
was coordinator and he was
assisted by Harry Buhay.
Following the invocation
by Denise Haines, a buffet
dinner was served by the
Vo-Tech students in the
cafetorium.
Student speakers for the
evening were Barry Miller,
who spoke on ‘‘Nacirema,’’
which is American spelled
backwards and Denise
Haines, who selected
‘“*Graduation’’ as her topic.
Those completing the
course in oral communica-
tion and leadership training
were Ron Smith, Denise
Haines, Mitch Drace, Linda
Valle, Sally "Bomberger,
Cathy Strelick, Marge
Kline, Phil Miller, Alane
Clark, Linda Shenk, Barry
Miller, Michael Carroll,
and Holly Hoke. All are
members of the VICA,
FFA, or DECA clubs at the
Vo-Tech School.
Serving as officers of the
Early service at Trinity Lutheran
The annual Trinity Luth-
eran Church, Mount Joy,
Christmas Eve Service will
begin at 7 p.m., December
24, so that young children
can attend and participate
in the service. This year
the service is being plan-
ned by the Trini-Teens, the
youth ministry group of the
church.
The service will include
an explanation of a large
creeke scene by Pastor
Lester Koder to the child-
ren and a children’s ser-
monette by Pastor David
Klepper with the children
singing ‘‘Away in A Man-
ger.”
The senior choir will sing
a selection accompanied by
Miss Beulah Smith at the
organ under the direction
of Norrell . Shields. Mr.
George Minick will present
the Christmas message.
The service will be climax-
ed by a candlelight service.
Reading participants in-
clude: Tammy Duke, Becky
Ruhl, Scott Brightbill, Gor-
don Brightbill, Brian Gol-
den, and Denny Weller.
Others participating are:
Jacque Zeller, Lissa Riley,
John Day, John Anspach,
Jeffrey Duke, Jonathan
Ruhl, Mary Ruhl, Wendy
Weller, and Jo Beth Sheaf-
fer.
