members of the Marietta
Lions Club and their wives.
Proceeds from the event
will be used to further
Lions Club projects. Addi-

These Marietta struc-
tures will be open on the
tour:
“Sylvan View’’, the re-
sidence of Mr. and Mrs.
Roger Jackson, Mount
Pleasant Road, was built in
1850, by the late Henry
Musselman, an Iron Mas-
terrace with formal gardens
sloping toward the river,
the visitor is at once
attracted to the ornate iron
railings found on the front
of the white brick struc-
ture. The charm and bal-
ance of the rooms are
emphasized by the high
ceilings, fireplaces and
hand made doors through-
out the first floor. Many
family heirlooms make this
home a point of interest.
Just beyond the eastern
edge of Marietta, in the
area now named Donegal
Place, are rows of two-story
brick buildings that once
housed foundrymen and
their families. The great
Marietta iron foundries,
seven in all, loomed nearby
and stretched from here to
the base of Chiques Rock.
Nestled among these hous-
es is the gunshop of
Charles Heistand whe is an
American rifle maker or
gunsmith.
In one room of his shop
Heistand, hand forges the
long barrels and firing
locks. The second room is
lined with benches covered
