Donegal massacres Lebanon Catholic at DHS; Indians had 8—3 year by Chester Wittell Bleak and cheerless is the landscape, Bare and barren stands the hill; Now the dreamy days grow shorter; Autumn winds more loud and chill. Earth is sad; the trees are naked, Shorn of leaf and lingering bloom; Even the sun, itself, seems darkened By the lowering clouds that loom. But within each home and hostel Festive hearths glow warm and bright, While the scent of savory viands Stimulates the appetite; For today our hearts are gladdened By a custom old and dear; Work and worry are forgotten At a time of rest and cheer. Hearty signs of expectation Light each friendly smiling face As the guests converge for dinner; Each before his chosen place. At the table’s head sits father; Mother at the other end; In between sit brother, sister, Or the next of kin or friend.
