Elco spoils Indian hopes for title
Donegal probably lost its chance for a sectional championship when Elco defeated
the Indian football team 21-0 last Saturday. Before the game, Donegal, Elco and
Cocalico had been locked into a 3-way race for the title with only one loss each. The
Indians’ loss drops them to 3d place in Section 2 of the Lancaster-Lebanon league.
Donegal still has one of the best overall won-lost records in either county, and a
good shot at 2d place honors in the section.
Neither side managed to score in the first half, then Elco’s powerful running
offense began taking over the game. Donegal threatened to score several umes, but
they ran out of downs before they could get the ball across the goal line.
