Suzanne Frey crowned, DHS wins at Saturday’s Homecoming game Suzanne Frey was crowned homecoming queen of Donegal High School last Saturday after- noon. The score was 34-8. The junior class won the float competition and pos- ession of the tomahawk. Miss Zeller was crowned Faculty Homecoming Queen by unanimous vote of the teachers. Haunted house and parade by Donald Simmons The Marietta Jaycee's announced the dates set for Halloween activities in our community will be: The Third Annual Scream-in-the-Dark will be held October 22-31 at p.m. On the evening of the 31st, the hours will be from 7 p.m. until Midnight. The location is Jaycess Center, West Market and North Waterford Avenue. The 20th Annual Hallo- ween Parade will be held in Marietta on Thursday, October 28, and will form at the River- view School lot from 6:13. The parade will start at 7:30 and procede up Mar- ket Street to the Square, then on up Gay Street and down West Walnut to thi Jaycee Center where prizes will be announced. The parade chairmen are: John Spickler and Harvey Reem. The parade will be led by the State Police Mounted Color Guard. Safety checkpoints for Halloween treats by Harvey E. Reem The Marietta Jaycees will be sponsoring a Trick or Treat station for all children to have there candy checked for metal materials within the candy. This station will be set up at the Council Chamber during the evening of Trick or Treat night. We urge that al! parents have their children stop in Maytown trick/treat East Donegal Supervisors have announced that Trick or Treat night in East Donegal Township will be October 28, from 6 to 9 p.m: Children up to age 12 may participate. and have their candy checked. Teachers, board are still talking DEA leaders made care- ful preparations for a strike before they walked into the negotiating room Monday night. The teachers were pre- pared to walk out Tuesday if school board negotiators flatly refused the union's latest contract proposal. The fact that classes were held Tuesday may mean that DEA negotiators sensed some spirit of compromis<. at the table. No date has been set for the next negotiating ses- sion, but school officials scem confident that talks will continue as we go to press Tuesday. At the neat meeting, the board will make a new offer. Bike rodeo Saturday Since rain and wind postponed the Mount Joy Jaycees annual bike rodoe on October 16th, the event has been rescheduled for Saturday morning October 23rd at Seiler School from 10 until 11:30. All boys and girls in grades one thru six arc invited to participate. This year’s rodeo should be better than ever. There aie six events this year, with each event being super vised by a member of the Jaycees. None of th events is dangerous. They are designed to check cach child in his handling ot his bicycle. Prizes will be awarded t« each child who accumulates the most points in his age group.
