Archers
must file
deer kill report card
Successful archers are
reminded by the Game
Commission that the num-
ber of the hunting license
is needed on the deer kill
report card which must be
filed by successful whitetail
hunters. :
Prior to two years ago,
the deer kill report card
was a part of the hunting
license, and the hunting li-
cense number was printed
on the report card. Now,
the report card is separate
from the hunting license,
and the license number
does not appear on the
report card.
During the past two
years some report cards
were mailed to the Game
Commission by archers
who forgot to include the
hunting license number on
the report card.
The Game Commission
reminds PA motorists that
more deer will be killed on
the state’s highways during
the hunting seasons than at
any other time of the year.
Whitetails will be parti-
cularly active during the
period. Movements by
hunters during small and
big game seasons stir up
spooky whitetails which
head for other hiding
places, often crossing
highways to reach their
destination.
Drivers should be con-
stantly alert for whitetails
which may suddenly bound
onto the road in front of
vehicles. The danger can
be as great in the daytime
as at night.
And, while the problem
is generally more acute in
‘deer country,’’ drivers
should know that vehicles
killed deer last year in
every county of the state,
including Philadelphia.
Reduced speed lessens
the danger.
