G.C. Murphy employees honor

Edith G. Etsell and Helen G. Weaver were honored at a dinner party last week for
their 25 years of service with the G. C. Murphy Co. .

ladies each received $125 watches and 25 red roses. A letter of congratulations from
the president of the company was read. Numerous letters from friends arrived. The
banquet was held at the Central Hotel, Mount Joy.
Annie Westenhoefer turns 94

A family dinner with
home-made coconut cake
marked the celebration of
the 94th birthday of Mrs.
Annie Westerhoefer. Mrs.
Westonhoefer, formerly of
Marietta, has been a guest
of Lehman's Nursing Home
for four years. Her two
sons and two daughters
were present for the occa-
sion.
Annie M. Newcomer
Westenhoefer is the daugh-
ter of the late Albert and
Sarah Barnes. She was
born September 25, 1882 in
Columbia. She was married
to the late William West-
enhoefer, July 3, 1905. Mr.
Westenhoefer died October
14, 1955.
Their children are: Wil-
liam Jr., Ocala, FL; Cora,
wife of John Detz, Mari-
etta; Russell, Hazel Crest,
IL; and Margaret, wife of
Ralph Yingling, Hampstead
MD.
Mrs. Westenhoefer has
five grandchildren, 10 great
grandchildren, and 4 great-
great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Westenhoefer’s
43 persons attend
Maytown Civic Asso.
Maytown citizens turned
out, 43 strong, to the Sep-
tember meeting of the
Maytown Civic Association.
This was the result of
active recruitment, and the
group seemed eager to ini-
tiate an effective program
for community betterment.
A membership drive is now
under way.
The October Sth meeting
will be held in the Town-
ship Municipal Building at
7:30 p.m. All citizens are
urged to attend.

has agreed to publish a
weekly funding progress
report along with a list of
honor contributors. Honor
contributors will be those
donating $25.00 or more.
Mr. Jones expects that
orders for material will be
placed by October 1, 1976.
Mr. Jones hopes that
lights will be working in
time for the final football
game of the season.
The tennis, baseball, and
track lights should be
finished by Spring.
Jane Youtz
Runner-up
in pageant
Jane Youtz of Marietta
was 3rd runner-up in the
Miss Lancaster County Pa-
geant held at Ephrata High
last week. Jane, a college
freshman, performed a
dramatic monologue as her
talent.
She is a graduate of
Donegal High School,
where she was active in the
dramatics club as an act-
ress and writer.
Boat Club to
hold roast
East Donegal Boat Club,
Inc., will hold its first pig
roast on Saturday, October
2, beginning at 1 p.m.
Members and their families
are all invited.
Pork, baked potatoes,
sauerkraut, and beverages
will be provided. Each per-
son attending should bring
his own place settings.
