by Jacquie McCurdy The annual dinner meet- ing of the Mount Joy Joyce ettes was held Sep- tember 21, 1976 at Carpen- ter’s Inn. President, Sandy Gingrich, introduced our two guests for the evening. It was reported that a donation was sent to the Mount Joy playground summer program. As a money making pro- ject, the club is selling current stationary under the chairmanship of Sandy Meckley. The Joycee-ettes are proud to have sponsored Miss Patty Wolfe in the Miss Lancaster County Pa- geant, held September 25 at Ephrata High School. We wel- come all to come out and visit our stand to test your skills at throwing darts. Girls are busy working on the Christmas Bazaar to be held November S and 6 at St. Mark's Methodist Church basement. Chair- men for the bazaar are Kathy Bower and Donna Wetzel. Due to a limited re- sponse, the Babysitting Clinic will be postponed until next year. The 1975 Babysitting Directories are being updated and distri- buted around the commun- ity. Fashion Show plans are under way for March 14, 1977. Fashions will be pro- vided by Junior Colony— Fashion Colony, Park City. Chairmen for this project are Harriet Ney and Joanne Fry. Child Molester Posters will be distributed to the primary age children of the school district. Joanne Nolt volunteered to handle the needlework in gathering project which is given to the Messiah Home. The ghosts and goblins are getting ready to invade our Halloween social being planned by Jean Sargen and Joanne Aument. November 1, is the date set for the Jaycee County Wives Social at Manheim. This social gives us an opportunity to hear about other clubs in the area. A hoagie sale will be held in October. Assoc. reviews transportation policy The Board of Directors of the Marietta Arca Ambu- lance Association reviewed its policy concerning trans- portation of non members to the local hospitals. It decided to establish a $25 fee to the Columbia and $45 to the Lancaster Instit- utions. The new rates will become effective as of January 1, 1977. There were 22 ambu- lance runs in May, 26 in June, 15 in July, and 13 in August. The annual mem- bership drive conducted by the Ambulance personnel has been completed. If there are persons who may still wish to join they may do so by purchasing their subscriptions at Farmers First Bank. Volunteer drivers and attendants are still needed. To join, call president Albert Dettinger, maintain- ance chief Barry Eppley, or chief driver Dean Shope. Attendants must hold a first aid card and be willing to take advanced courses in first aid. Recent contributions to the Ambulance were re- ceived from the Junior and Senior High Schools and a memorial from the late Mrs. Sue Wisman. IU #13 sponsors Free Adult ed Free Adult Education classes, sponsored by Lan- caster-Lebanon Intermedi- ate Unit 13, have started in the Donegal area. Courses offered are: Preparation for the High School Diploma— a free course intended to review the basic skills in math, reading, and usage needed to pass the GED test. Each adult works individually at his own level. Mount Joy Vo-Tech, Tuesday & Wednesday, 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. Basic Reading— for the average adult who has had difficulty in mastering reading skills. All reading is taught in connection with the student’s job needs and interests. Mount Joy Vo-Tech School, Tuesday & Thurs- day, 7 - 10 p.m. English vour second language— this “class stresses specaking and emergency cabulary for the beginner, while reading and writing in English are offered the intermediate and advanced student. There are classes in citi- zenship and driver training for the ESL adult. Elizabethtown College, Monday & Tuesday, 7 - 10 p.m. Daytime Basic Reading and English as a Second Language classes will be offered if there is enough interest.
