Community church meetings
being planned in Maytown
The Maytown Minister-
ium is developing a series
of Community Church
meetings. The purpose for
these meetings is to exa-
mine the church and where
it stands today. Each meet-
ing will be led by the
pastor of the hosting con-
gregation and one of the
other pastors will make a
short presentation on the
church. The floor will then
be opened for discussion as
to what the church is and
should be, and how the
church is responding to the
claims of Jesus Christ.
There is no attempt being
made to promote merger,
nor to discuss denomina-
tionalism. The ministerium
does encourage each per-
son to be prepared to
examine himself and the
church body to which he
belongs with the idea of
improvement of himself
and his own, and pro-
moting cooperation with
other Christians whenever
possible. The theme for
these meetings will be
“Unity in Christ.”’ The
meetings will be held on
three consecutive Thursday
evenings, September 16,
23, and 30 at 7:30 p.m. and
the final meeting will be
Sunday evening, October 3,
also at 7:30 p.m.
The first meeting will be
at the St. John’s Lutheran
Church, North Queen
Street, Maytown. The
theme of the evening will
be “Unity in Love” pre-
sented by Earl E. Herr of
the Brethren in Christ
Church.
The second meeting will
be at the Reformed Church
East Elizabeth Street,
Maytown. That evening's
theme will be ‘“‘Unity in
Body,”” presented by Ed
Rosenberry, of the Church
of God.
“Unity in Mission’ pre-
sented by Dennis Hall, of
the Lutheran Church, will
be the theme of the last
Thursday night meeting,
September 30, in the
Church of God, West
Elizabeth Street, Maytown.
The final meeting plan-
ned in this series will be a
“Unity in Communion,”
led by Paul N. Marsteller,
of the Reformed Church,
held in the Brethren in
Christ parsonage basement
North Queen Street Exten-
sion (Endslow Road), Sun-
day, October 3, at 7:30
p.m. As much as possible,
this will resemble a first
century communion.
The Ministerium wel-
comes you to these meet-
ings, even though you may
not belong to a church in
Maytown. ‘‘We trust they
will prove a blessing to
each one.”
