Marietta girls
lose
ballgame to E-town
The Sth place team,
Elizabethtown Merchants,
topped number one team,
Marietta, with a score of 19
to 14. The Merchants gals
were really playing heads-
up ball. Wendy Wolfe
batted 4 for S, smashing a
well earned triple to the
centerfield fence with the
bases loaded. Catcher,
Sabrina Rosenberry of the
Merchants went 3 for S,
scoring S RBI’s. Marietta’s
Lolly Baker, centerfielder,
batted 4 for 4 with a triple,
2 doubles, and a single.
Chiques faced Chap-
man’s Apparel on Monday
also, and took the win 15 to
2.Chiques Barb Hoover
made her pitching debut -
pitching S strike-outs while
allowing only 2 walks. Barb
also slammed a home run
and Robin Pflieger hit a
double.
On Tuesday evening,
Farm Diner played Mount
Joy and came from behind
6 to 0 in the 4th inning to
take the victory in an extra
inning 12 to 10. Mount
Joy’s Carol McKain made a
spectacular throw from cen-
terfield to home for the 3rd
out to end the inning.
Mount Joy’s 2nd baseman,
Vicki Greiner hit a beauti-
ful triple while catcher Jo
Greenawalt had two earned
doubles. Farm Diner's,
Sylvia Sumpman started
the Sth inning with a home
run and after the team
batted around Sylvia hit a
double. This was certainly
her game because she
didn’t miss a ball in left
field all night. Farm
Diner's Dottie Krafft also
batted 3 for 4 and Lois
Wolgemuth 2 for 2 while
drawing 4 walks. Also on
Tuesday evening, Chap-
man’s Apparel beat Hei-
stand’s Chry/Ply 12 to 10.
Chapman’s Bernie Gish
and Jackie Kulp each hit a
double while shortstop
Terry Taylor hit a home
run with 2 on base. Hei-
stand’s Malva Flowers hit a
double while Sally Fanus at
3rd and Donna McNaugh-
ton at shortstop both had
outstanding defensive
plays.
Mount Joy faced the
merchants and took the win
S to 4. Mount Joy’s Jo
Greenawalt and Sherri Kin-
sey both batted 3 for 4.
Merchants’ Wendy Wolfe
was kept busy in left field
making quite a few saves.
Marietta beat Farm
Diner on Wednesday with a
score of 15 to 3. Kathy
Lewis had a spectacular
jump catch in center while
Lolly Baker and Sonya
Gish both had good nites.
Thursday, Marietta had
another ‘‘big win’’ over
Mount Joy 21 to 2. Mari-
etta’s pitcher, Rae Ann
Parker pitched a shut-out
until the top of the 7th.

and Butch Kolp all played
a good defensive game
while catcher Sharon Bry-
ant batted 4 for S. Mount
Joy’s pitcher, Betty Girvin
batted 3 for 4, smashing a
beautiful hit over the left-
fielder’s head.
