Mrs. Boozer says she
took up the hobby to pass
time, but she has turned
out 57 rugs in the past 20
years -quite a number
considering the method she
uses.

uses burlap as a foundation
and hooks pieces of old

patterns have been her
own, although she admits
to using other patterns.
Mrs. Boozer got started
in rug hooking 20 years ago
when she watched a neigh-
bor doing it.
The large rug in the
picture won 1st prize in the
annual community exhibit
for rug hooking. Two other
rugs won 2d and 4th place
in the Harrisburg state fair.

The art exhibit, which is
being arranged by Mrs. W.
Scott Heisey will also in-
clude some of the artists at
work painting the scenic
surroundings.
Food will be available all
day from the ‘Country
Kitchen’’ directed by Mrs.
Louise Seiders and Mrs.
Margaret Heisey. Soup,
sandwiches, shoo-fly pie,
and other goodies will be
served.
The Bicentennial week
will then conclude with
services at 9 and 11 a.m.
on Sunday, June 20th at
which the special guest
speaker will be Dr. Robert
Stevenson, Associate
Stated Clerk of the General
Assembly of the Presby-
terian Church in the U.S.A.
Dr. Stevenson is also the
official secretary to the
Moderator.
The church which is
located on the Donegal
Springs Road between
Mount Joy and Maytown
has as its pastor the Rev.
Robert C. Murphy.
The public is cordially
invited to all the bicenten-
nial events.
