Letter to
Dear Editor
At the past two meetings
of the Maytown Parents
and Teachers in Partner-
ship, those who attended
were informed by Mr. Dale
Arnold and Mr. Ragnar
Hallgren (Donegal School
Board) and Mr. James
Lawrence (principal of
Maytown School) of
changes that are to take
place effective for the
1976-77 school year.
Those changes proposed
included: the. immediate
release of two very compe-
tent teachers; the closing of
the old primary building by
moving all class and ad-
ministration activities into
the newer building (this
means ten teachers for
twelve classes); the division
of the principal’s and
school nurse’s responsibili-
ties with other schools; and
the use of the art and
the editor
music rooms as regular
classrooms.
It is our understanding
that these changes were
suggested in order to meet
the proposed 1976-77
Donegal School District
budget.
We feel that
are necessary, there are
other areas to be looked
into that would not jeopor-
dize the type and quality of
education we now have.
We urge all concerned
parents to attend the next
school board meeting on
Thursday, June 27th at
8:00 p.m. in the district
office, S. Marshall Ave.,
Mount Joy.
As tax payers and voters
it is our responsibility to be
aware of the changes
taking place in the school
district.
The school budget will
if changes
not be adopted until June
23rd and if you feel, as we
do, that it is the students
of the Maytown School who
stand to lose most through
the changes proposed -
attend the school board
meeting this Thursday and
together we can be heard.
