Whitesel, rector of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Mount Joy has been named an honorary canon of the Diocese of Central PA. This honor is given in recogni- tion of faithful service to the Diocese. Father White- sel has been rector of St. Luke’s since 1967. The title was conferred upon Father Whitesel by the Rt. Rev. Dean T. Stevenson, Bishop of the Diocese during his annual address to the convention held recently at Bucknell University. It is given with the advise and consent of the Vestry and Dean of St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Harrisburg. He will be in- stalled at a special service to be held in the fall in the cathedral. Father Whitesel and the Rev. Edward Jones, rector of St. James’ Church, Lan- caster were elected by con- vention to serve a three year term on the Standing Committee. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL The Vacation Bible School, sponsored by the Glossbrenner United Methodist Church and the Florin Church of the Brethren, completes its first week tomorrow and will run through June 21-24 Monday to Thursday. This year’s Bible School is being held in the Gloss- brenner Church from 9:30 to 11:30 in the morning. It is open to all boys and girls from age 4 through Junior High. The theme this year is ““God’s Love is Jesus” and has for its project the collecting of money to buy breeding rabbits for the world’s underprivileged. Besides Bible instruction, there are daily periods of creative crafts and group singing. Children who have not attended the first week are welcome to share in this experience the last week— start tomorrow and then come the four days of next week. Hayes HOME MISSIONS A Home Missions Emphasis Service will be conducted on Sunday, June 20th, at the 10:30 a.m. service at the Marietta Assembly of God Church. The Reverend Parker B. Hayes, Home Missions Director of the Eastern District of the Assemblies of God, will be the guest speaker. Rev. Hayes is a graduate of Vineland, New Jersey High School, Beulah Heights Bible School. He attended Glassboro College, Glassboro, NJ. He was engaged in the con- struction and building materials industry for several years, serving as pastor and as Sectional Home Missions Director. Under his leadership, new church congregations have been organized and estab- lished. He will speak on the past growth and the present potential growth of the Assemblies -of God which is one of the fastest growing church organiza- tions in the world today. The Reverend Leroy Hoover, pastor of the local assembly extends a cordial invitation to the public to attend this service. BETHEL AME CHURCH. .
