METHODIST CHURCH
The Chiques
Methodist Church is re-
cognizing high school,
college, and university
graduates on Sunday, June
13th at the 10 a.m.
worship service. The guest
speaker will be Mr. Ragnar
F. Hallgren, Superinten-
dent of Donegal School
District. Mr. Hallgren was
born September 3, 1924 in
Florin section of Mount
Joy. He attended Mount
Joy schools where he was
president of his high school
class. He was a commis-
sioned officer in U.S. Naval
Air Corps during World
War II. Mr. Hallgren
earned his Bachelor of Arts
Degree from Franklin and
Marshall College and his
Master of Arts Degree
from Bucknell University.
He also attended the Uni-
versity of PA., Columbia
University, University of
North Carolina, Chicago
University, and Temple
University. He is married
to Mary Elizabeth Daniels
of Millersburg, PA. They
have three daughters-Mrs.
Mary Ann Mohr, Miss
Elizabeth J. Hallgren, and
Miss Barbara Hallgren and
two grandchildren.
The following graduates
will be honored:
Miss Denise Louise
Lutz-Donegal; Mr. Michael
John Rider-Donegal; Miss
Diane Lynne Waltz-Done-
gal; Miss Mindy Gutshall-

United
BIBLE SCHOOL
The Eight-Day Vacational
Bible School, June 14-17,
21-24 will open Monday in
the Glossbrenner United
Methodist Church, Angle
and Church Streets, Mount
Joy. The cooperative school
is sponsored by the host
church and the Florin
Church of the Brethren.
This year’s Bible school
theme is: ‘‘God’s Love is
Jesus”’ and there will be
classes for children from 4
years old through Junior
High. The class material
will be Bible-centered with
time for meaningful and
creative crafts and enthusi-
astic group singing.
Each of the eight-day
sessions will begin at 9:30
and close at 11:30 in the
morning. The selected pro-
ject of this year’s Bible
school will be the collecting
of money to buy breeding
rabbits through CWS Heif-
er Project for the world’s
underprivileged and under-
fed.
Directors of the Bible
School are Karen Buller
(Glossbrenner) and Ver-
della Spickler (Florin) with
co-directors Kathy Herr-
mann and Sylvia Weaver.
The complete staff includes
Sharon Wolgemuth, Sandy
Dennis,
Mabel Buller,
Belle Balmer, Vickie Forry,
Frances Greiner, Norma
Klugh, Marcia Valle, Bon-
nie Becker, Kathy Gish,

All children of the com-
munity (within the age
limit) are invited to share
in this great Bible school
experience starting Monday
in the Glossbrenner
Church.
ST MARK
Sunday, June 13th, the
members and friends of St.
Mark’s United Methodist
Church, 27-29 East Main
Street, Mount Joy, will
gather together for two
services of Holy Com-
munion. The 8 a.m. Wor-
ship will be more informal
with the Sacrament being
distributed to worshippers
around the altar. The main
service of worship is at
10:15 a.m. The elements
will be received in the
pews at this service.
There will be special
music for both worship
experiences, the Chancel
Choir performing for the
last time until fall at the
10:15 hour. The pastor, W.
Richard Kohler, will preach
on the subject, ‘‘Refresh-
ment on Our Toilsome
Way.”
On subsequent Sundays
the congregation will ob-
serve Father’s Day (June
20th) and, on the 27th,
have guest ministry. Mr.
William Friffin of Strouds-
burg, PA will be the
special speaker. At each
service there will be active
congregational participation
and special music.
Members, friends, and
new persons in the com-
munity are cordially invited
to these and all services at
St. Mark’s Church.
TRINITY LUTHERAN
Trinity Lutheran Church,
Mount Joy, will hold its
Daily Vacation Bible School
from June 21 to June 25
from 9 to 11:30 a.m. each
day. The theme this year
will be ‘““The Lord, The
Nations, The People’’. This
Concordia Publishing
House Program is being
offered to the children of
the community from age 3
years through 7th grade.
The Nursery for 3 year
olds will be under the
direction of Mrs. Helen
Hackett and Mrs. Anita
Brenner, assisted by Jeany
Lauver and Sue Miller. The
nursery for 4 year olds will
be under the direction of
Mrs. Sharon Ream and
Mrs. Ann Fitzkee, assisted
by Mildred Zink, Pamela
Wivell, and Laurie Zer-
phey.
The kindergarten will be
under the direction of Mrs.
Marilyn Etsell and Mrs.
Vickie Brown, assisted by
Mrs. Sue Riley, Jaclyn
Zeller, Leissa Riley and
Sheri Smith. This depart-
ment is for children who
will enter kindergarten in
the fall and those who have
just completed it.
The Primary Department
will be taught by Mrs.
Carol Miller and Evelyn
Duke, assisted by John Day
and Jon Ruhl. This depart-
ment is for children who
were in the first and
second grade this year.
The Junior Department
will be taught by Mrs.
Judie Wellar and Mrs.
Miriam Breinich, assisted
by Tammy Duke. This de-
partment is for children
who were in third and
fourth grade this year.
The Preteen Department,
for fifth, sixth, and seventh
graders will be taught by
Mrs. Elinore Ruhl, Mrs.
Jean Sargen, and Mrs.
Barbara Tyson.
Carol Miller will serve as
piano player for the group,
and Tammy Duke will be
the song leader. Denny
Weller will be the secret-
ary.
Mrs. June Smith and
Mrs. Thelma Bowman will
prepare the refreshments
each day.
The Bible School mater-
ial this year includes film
strip lessons, songs, art
work, games, and refresh-
ments. We extend a special
invitation to the boys and
girls of the community who
are involved in the baseball
program and cannot attend
their own Bible school, to
come to our morning Bible
School.
