Mrs. Grimm was born in Aransa Pass, Texas and grew up in the country between Elizabethtown and Hershey. Lillian Grimm was later to teach at the same one-room school house she attended as a child, Hertzler School. After attending Hershey Senior High School, Mrs. Grimm got her normal diploma at West Chester State College. She received her B.S. at Elizabethtown College and her Masters at Franklin and Marshall, and then gained additional edu- cation from Millersville, Penn State and Temple University. Mrs. Grimm taught Eng- lish and social studies at Balloons Where did your balloon land? This question appear- ed on the bulletin board at the Grandview Elementary School. The students at the school released several hundred balloons on May 27, at the annual school play day. Attached to the balloons were cards containing the names and addresses of the student releasing the bal- loon. Several have been returned to the students. One was from the Ephrata Borough Police Chief, Gene Willwirth, who sent the information on the official police stationery, noting the location (outside Leola, along route 222) the time, and including a personal wish for the suc- cessful future of the young ‘“‘balloonist’’, Jimmy Maytown and Donegal high schools, and was one of the first sixteen guidance coun- selors in Lancaster County. Mrs. Grimm felt that her teaching helped her to understand counseling. She felt that a guidance counse- lor must always be aware of the current problems of young students. Her advice to a new guidance counselor is to first teach, work closely with the facul- ty and except it as a service job. Mr. and Mrs. Grimm live in Elizabethtown and have a cottage in Caledonia State Park. Although Mrs. Grimm enjoyed her work she feels she is now ready for a little less tension in her life. She plans to read, hook rugs and just spend more time with her hus- band. located Sheaffer. Others who received notes, letters and cards were: Leeann Kelly from Lancaster; Denny Hershey from Peach Bottom; charles Fackler from Dover, Delaware; Noel Ho-Preston from Maryland; Audra Markley from Bel Air, Maryland; Andy Gelt- macher from Gordonville; Fred Hoak from E. Peters- burg; Missy Bomgardner from Aberdeen, Maryland; Marcia Anspach from Man- heim; Melissa Osborne from Churchtown; Tina McKain from Leola; and John Peterman from Lancaster. According to the notes and letters the balloons were found along roads, in fields, wrapped around fence posts and on lawns. (continued on page 9)
