Rory Lee Gallagher
Donegal Coaches to
award
Rory Gallagher and
Joseph Meszaros have
been selected the recipients
Coaches’
Association Scholarship
Fund. Each will receive two
hundred dollars towards
furthering his education.
Rory, the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Walter R. Gallagher,
Jr., resides at 21S Marietta
Street, Mount Joy, Pa. He
will enter Millersville State
College in the fall and
major in Industrial Arts.
Known as quite a versatile
athlete, Rory lettered in
football, basketball and
baseball. During his senior
year he was chosen for the
Lancaster-Lebanon All-Star
Football Team and also
received the Jesse Mooney
Award. Besides his athletic
achievement, Rory was also
| selected for National Honor
Society and Boy of the
Month.
Joe is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Frank J. Meszaros
and lives at 39 w. Walnut
St., Marietta, Pa. In the
fall, he will enter Lock
Haven State College to

Richard A. Rainbolt, the
former editor of the Mount
Joy Bulletin, is a member
of the Bicentennial Activity
Committee of the L-L Boy
Scouts.
Scouts will visit historic
spots throughout Lancaster
| and Lebanon Counties to
earn bicentennial distelfink
patches.
Sites the scouts will visit
include Donegal Mills
Plantation and the Donegal
Witness Tree.
By visiting three or more
designated historical sites
in Lancaster and Lebanon
Cub, or Explorer taking
part in the ‘‘Bicentennial
Trek’ program can earn a
special ‘‘Bicentennial dis-
telfink’’ patch. The pro-

scholarships
major in Mathmatical
Computer Science. Also
gaining varsity recognition
in three sports, Joe receiv-
ed letters in soccer, wrestl-
ing, and track. In track, he
set a school record for the
880 and helped in breaking
the record for the two-mile
relay. In his senior year he
was one of the tri-captains
of the wrestling team
during their near perfect
season. Joe is also credited
with being a member of the
National Honor Society, a
musician in the Donegal
Band, a Boy of the Month,
and a member of the cast
in the senior class play.
This is the first time the
scholarships have been
presented by D.C.A., but
the association is planning
to continue the awards
annually. Selection is based
primarily of financial need.
Also taken into considera-
tion are recommendations
of the coaches, school
activities, and academic
merit of the applicants. An
elected committee from
D.C.A. (Scholarship Com-
mittee) screened the candi-
dates and selected the
award winners. Members
of the Scholarship Commit-
tee are as follows: Dennis
Izzi(pres), Joyce Zangari
(sec.), Gene Funk, Emil
Swift and Jim Metzler
(Chairman of committee).

The Marietta Youth
Athletic Association will
meet in the Marietta Com-
munity House on Sunday,
June 13, at 2 p.m. All
coaches are urged to at-
tend. Persons holding cur-
rent membership tickets
may participate in the
activities of the club.
