MJ Welcome Wagon
elects 1976 officers
On May 1S, 1976, the
Mount Joy Welcome
Wagon Club held formal
installation at Mr. Lacy’s
installing its 76-77 officers.
On June 16, 1976,
club is planning to make its
yearly trip to Mt. Gretna.
They will be leaving the
Weis parking lot at S:15
and all reservations and
monies must be to Janice
Shelly no later than June 4,
1976.
Through
the summer
the
craft classes will be held to
make items for the Christ-
mas bazaar. Those who are
interested in helping out
should contact Nancy Pen-
kunas, Judy Miller, or
Sharon Roberts for inform-
ation.

ments in the Mount Joy

Bainbridge Legion to
re-activate
As a further Contribution
to the success of the Conoy
Township Bi-Centennial
celebration, LIBHART-
DYER, Post 197, American
Legion, Bainbridge, Pa.
will sponsor the re-activat-
ed 2nd Company, Sth
Pennsylvania Battalion,
Lancaster County Militia
(1775), starting with the
parade on Saturday, June
12, 1976.
The group, re-activated
in May 1975, consists of 14
men from the south-eastern
part of Lancaster County,
currently based in New
Holland, is complete with
colors, fife and drum, flint
lock firing muskets and
uniforms of the period, will
parade with members of
Post 197 and veterans of
Conoy Township. the
group’s theme will be the
“The Old and the New -
1776 - 1976”
76 militia
In addition to the parade,
the militia will en-camp on
the river shore at the end
of Race St., in Bainbridge,
where they will conduct a
living history and present a
flint lock musket firing
demonstration at 2 p.m.
Saturday.
Since their beginning,
members of the militia
have participated in events
as far away as South
Carolina, however for the
1976 Bi-Centennial year,
the group is dedicated to
helping surrounding com-
munities celebrate our na-
tion’s 200th birthday.
Bainbridge and Conoy
Township is fortunate to
obtain the services of this
fine group and Post 197,
American Legion, is very
proud to present them to
the community on this
special occasion.
Cub Scouts plan trip
June 15, 1976, Mount
Joy Cub Scout Pack 136
will be going to Gettys-
burg, PA. All scouts will
meet at Seiler Elementary
School at 8 a.m.
All cubs should bring a
bag lunch and turn in $2.00
to den mothers or cub-
master at once. Cubs will
wear clothes they wore in
the Memorial Day Parade
or cub scout uniforms.
