Mount Joy Township Authority
proposed sewer plan
to discuss
Mount Joy Township
Authority, West Donegal
Township Authority, and
Elizabethtown Borough
Authority will meet with
the Department of En-
vironmental Resources to
discuss financial responsi-
bilities in the planned
sewer project for the three
areas. 4
The meeting will be held
June 9 at 1 p.m. in
Harrisburg.
Engineer Robert Shaffer
said the right-of-ways for
the proposed sewer lines
were about 99 per cent
complete. He hopes to have
a full report ready by the
next meeting.
Robert Hoover, Hum-
melstown, an investor,
questioned the time sche-
dule for the sewer project.
Hoover owns property
along Route 743, at the Mt.
Gretna-Hershey Roads
area. He indicated that he
would like to further
develop that land and is
interested in a time sche-
dule.
The area already has a
Weis Market and a branch
of the Elizabethtown Trust
Company Bank located
there. A Pizza Hut is
expected to be completed
~ sometime in the Fall.
Hoover said he hopes to
put 100 to 150 apartments
in that area at a cost of
$1,450,000. Shaffer said
once the authority is told
the funding is available, it
would take about six
months until the bids
would come in and 18
monts- te two- -years- for
actual construction.
Questioning the board
members on a petition
presented to increase the
number of members from
five to nine, Mrs. Donald
Yoder, Elizabethtown R.D.
#3, asked whether or not
that petition meant any-
thing to the present mem-
bership. She received no
direct answer. She was in-
formed at a previous meet-
ing that to change the
number of members, a
change in the by-laws
would be necessary.
One authority member
said he was not sure just
how the signatures were
gotten for the petition, so
he could not say he was
affected in his thinking
about it.
Mrs. Yoder said she
would be back with another
petition with even more
names.
