Mr. and Mrs. John Heisey, (Linda Neideigh) Mount Joy, R.D. #2, a son at Pigeons strike back On Saturday night about 10:30 p.m. there was a loud, explosive sound in the Florin Ward of Mount Joy and the lights were put out for several seconds when a pigeon flew into a trans- former in front of Stehman’s IGA store on Main Street. The pigeon who launched this Kamikazee-style attack on the transformer died instantly. A leg band identified the bird as a racing pigeon from a South Carolina racing club. Since the borough of Mount Joy recently banned pigeon coops in the town, the Susquehanna Times decided to investigate the transformer incident. Was there a conspiracy afoot? Were the pigeons of America plotting future terrorist attacks on Mount Joy? The Susquehanna Times . tried to interview some stool pigeons who live in the rafters of a barn behind our office. The pigeons refused to discuss the incident, even when we offered them corn and barley in exchange for information. We got the impression that the pigeons were afraid to talk. We backed slowly out of the barn, locked ourselves in the office, and began oiling our shotguns. General Hospital, May 13. RR ETT “Since 1915” MARIETTA, PA, MEL & GERRY HEISTAND, PROPS.
