Sico Company honors
long-term employees
The Sico Company of
Mount Joy honored 39 em-
ployees for long-term com-
pany service ranging from
10 to 4S years during the
29th Annual Employees
Banquet recently at the
Historic Strasburg Inn.
Honored for the longest
period of service, 45 years,
was Willis H. Ament, of
Washington Boro, R1. Sico
President, Robert P. Mc-
Ginley, who was himself
honored for 30 years ser-
vice, pointed out that Ament
has been associated with
Sico for exactly half of its
90-year history. Also de-
livering formal remarks was
Dr. D. L. Biemesderfer,
president of The Sico
Foundation Board and
former president of Millers-
ville State College.
Honored for 35 years
service to Sico were: Albert
F. Keller, of 6 New Street,
Mount Joy and Luella H.
Witmer, of 114 David
Street, Mount Joy.
Clarence F. Auker, of
Mount Joy R2 received
30-year recognition.
Cited for 25 years of
service to Sico were: W.
Bard Brubaker, of 325
Church Street, Landisville
and Paul S. Gerlach of 34
West Hummelstown Street,
Elizabethtown. :
Elmer S. Shenberger of
348 Chocolate Avenue,
Mount Joy was honored for
2S years service.
A total of 25 Sico em-
ployees received gold ser-
vice pins for 10, 15, and 20
years of service, respective-
ly. All employees attaining
their 25th year of service
received engraved Hamilton
watches. Gold service pins
were awarded to all employ-
ees.
Employees receiving 20-
year recognition were Lloyd
A. Derr of Mount Joy R2
and Clarence J. Heisey of
343 West Donegal Street,
Mount Joy and Edward W.
Zercher, 537 Locust Street,
Columbia, retail sales
manager.
Honored for 15 years
service were: Gary R. Max-
well of 271 Park Avenue,
Mount Joy; Norman Miller,
Jr., of 130 Prospect Road,
Salunga; Norman H. Smith
of 545 North Mount Joy
Street, Elizabethtown; and
Harold T. Watts, 12 New
Street, Mount Joy.
Employees receiving 10-
year recognition were:
Frances E. Brian, of 207
Frederick Street, Mount
Joy; Jay R. Ebersole, of Box
9S, Bainbridge; and Verna
M. Shere, of Mount Joy R2.
Also honored for 10 years
service was: Cornelius H.
Westerman, of 28 North
Jacob Street, Mount Joy.

Farm Women meet

Farm Women’s Society
#8 met in the Lutheran
Church, Maytown, Sat. May
15th at 2 PM for their
mother and daughter pro-
gram. Twenty-eight mem-
bers introduced twenty-nine
daughters or friends.
Grace Bixler, President
was in charge of the meeting
and led the group in singing
two songs. Piano accompa-
niment was by Pauline
Miller.
Lilian Eby had charge of
devotional time. Her
thoughts pertaining to
mothers were well chosen
and quite interesting. She
concluded with scripture.
Reading of the minutes
was by secretary, Mary
Grace Martin. Elizabeth
Shuman read the treasurer’s
report.
Sixteen members attend-
ed the spring rally at
Gettysburg recently.
Mrs. Anne Brown, from
Harrisburg, a soloist for
twenty-seven years in the
United Methodist Church in
that city sang two numbers.
The titles were ‘My Mo-
ther’s Voice’’ and “1 Walk-
ed Today Where Jesus
Walked’.
The special feature for the
afternoon was a demonstra-
tion of rocks on which
various designs were
painted. This was shown by
Mrs. Barbara Walsh from 92
Meadow Lane, Richboro,
Pa., who has spent ten years
in elementary education.
‘Her original designs are
numerous. She has been
successful in acrylic paint-
ing of ladybug designs on
mini rocks. She does pen
and ink and watercolor work
also.
Delicious refreshments
were served during the
social time. Hostesses were
Gladys Ney, Ruth Felty,
Sylvia Warfel, Anna Mae
Derr, Patsy Warfel and Ruth
Drager.
The next meeting will be
held June 19th at 2 PM at
the home of Isabel Endslow,
Marietta R. #1. The special
feature will be given by
Doris Thomas, Home Econ-
omist.
