That one Chinese was a young woman from Maytown, Hwey Mei Con- nolly. Mei as she’s called by her friends was born and raised in Tainan, a city in the southern part of Taiwan. After finishing High School, she went to work on an American Air Force Base. There she met and married Allan Connolly on October 9, 1969. In June of 1971, the Connolly family moved back to Allan’s native Massachu- setts. When college was finished, Allan received a job as chief of Respiratory Therapy at Columbia Hospital and moved the family to Lancaster County. Now the Connollys live in the Villager Townhouses in Maytown with their 2 children, Becky and Bryan. It seems a fitting celebra- tion of the nation’s birth for the Connolly family to have a new citizen in the family.
