Miller A Bicentennial Concert will be presented by the Choral Music Department of St. Mark’s United Metho- dist Church, Mount Joy, on Sunday, May 16, at 4 p.m. The concert will be present- ed by the Chancel Choir, the Wesley Singers, the Celes- tial Choir, and the Cherub Choir of St. Mark’s Church and will be directed by Mrs. Marilyn J. Miller. The Chancel Choir will present a cantata from Colonial America, ‘‘Match- less is Thy Form’ by Wil- liam Selby; two southern folk hymns, ‘‘Wondrous Love’ and ‘‘My Shepherd Will Supply My Need’ a spiritual, ‘“Ain’t Got Time To Die’’ and two anthems by Jean Berger, ‘‘Speak to One Another’ and ‘“‘A Rose Touched by the Sun’s Warm Rays.” The texts for the Berger numbers are from PA Book Plates by Henry S. Borneman, and are used by permission of the PA Ger- man Society, Inc., Lancas- ter, PA. Soloists of the Chancel Choir are Gary Graybill, Michael Kohler, Kim Lauver, and Kenneth Roth. The Wesley Singers will present five American folk hymns for Christmas, ‘‘Re- joice Ye Shepherds,’”’ ‘“‘As Shepherds in Jewry,” ““A- way in a Manger,” ‘‘Lift Up Your Heads’’, and ‘‘O Sing a Song of Bethlehem.’’ The choir will also sing ‘‘The Gift of Love’’ an American folk tune arranged by Hal Hopson. The Celestial Choir will sing a setting of the ““Twenty-Third Psalm’ by Frances Waterman; a Shaker Hymntune, *‘Tis the Gift to be Simple’ with tom-tom accompaniment by Dean Musser; and ‘“‘O Sing Unto the Lord’’ by Stanley Smith. MOTHERS DAY AT UCC Mrs. Elizabeth McKain, West Market Street, Mari- etta, was honored by mem- bers of Zion United Church of Christ, Sunday, during the morning service, as the Special Mother. Mrs. Mc- Kain is mother of the organ- ist, Mrs. Martin Byers. Mrs. Rose Dubbe was re- cognized as the youngest mother present. Mrs. Wal- ter Drager, Sr., was the mother married the longest and Mrs. Nildres Billett had the most children present as well as the most grand- children. All mothers of Zion UCC were honored at a banquet Saturday night in the new Marietta Fire House. The men of the congregation prepared and served a roast beef dinner. The following mothers received special recognition: Mrs. Rose Dubbe, for the longest hair; Mrs. Z. M. Dunn and Mrs. Laura Dieter, mother coming the fartherest; Mrs. Norma McCurdy, tallest mother; Mrs. Ella Benedict and Mrs. Minnie Yeaple, shortest mothers. Mrs. Ray Kunkle and her daughter presented a skit showing the love between a mother and her daughter. The program continued with a game of ‘“‘Lets Make A Deal’, with many mothers receiving prizes. The pro- gram was brought to a close with a sing-a-long, and a prayer.
