Old car restorers find their raw materials in backyards, junkyards, old barns and auctions. Once a car has been purchased, parts have to be scavenged . A lot of grinding and sanding is necessary. Jim and his family work for a year or two to rebuild each car. Jim says,‘ “Too many parents today hand their kid a new car. | think kids appreciate a car more if they work on it themselves.” Jim, who has no training in car repair, is taking adult-education courses at Mount Joy Vo-tech to polish up his skills.
