Lena Eshleman of the
Sunshine Committee re-
ported twelve cards sent to
the shut-ins. Mrs. Walter
Brandt will serve for the
following three months on
the Sunshine Committee.
Birthday and anniversaries
in April. New members
were introduced and they
were Susan Hershey, Lester
and Anna Hitz and Minnie
Gamber. Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Rhinehart were intro-
duced as guests.
President Shaeffer an-
nounced that papers would
be given each table and
those desiring to go to
Washington on May 12,
were to sign their names,
and at the May meeting to
pay for their reservations.
Mrs. Cyrus Gainor stated
that three folding tables
were stored in her garage
and she needed the room.
The club will hold an
auction next month and
some suggested they be
sold. After some discussion
to keep the tables and they
would be stored in the
presidents home. It was also
decided that Clinton Eby’s
antique Ford touring car
would be used in the bicen-
tennial parade and would
represent the Mount Joy
Leisure Club.
On Friday, May 12, there
will be a fund drive for
Muscular Dystrophy and in
the three banks in Mount
Joy there will be a table with
a container to deposit a
contribution, manned by the
members of the Leisure
Club. Hostesses for the May
meeting are Mary Boozer,
Ruth Brandt, Mrs. Sam
Dock, Mable Derr, Lillian
Eby, Anna Mae Eby, Ruth
Eby, Nora Eby, and Lena
Eshleman.
The program for the day
was in two parts. The first
part President Shaeffer ex-
plained the fee of joining
and the dues. The dues,
President Shaeffer stated,
are twenty five cents a
month, payable if the
member attends the meet-
ing or if he doesn’t attend,
and a member in arrears six
months will be subject to
expulsion after notification.
The second part of the
program consisted of old
home town movies, some
dating back to the year 1937.
A paper was passed asking
those interested in serving
at the tables May 14, which
will be in the banks, to sign
their names. The following
volunteered, Mrs. Irvin
Ginder, Bertha Foreman,
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Eshle-
man, Ethel and Frank Heid-
lauf, Ruth and Anna Mae
Eby, Fern LeVan, Harriett
Brown, Vesta Grissinger,
Marie Evans, and Grace and
Joe Staeffer. A schedule will
be arranged and presented
at the May meeting.
The next meeting will be
May 10 and will be an
auction. Members are asked
to bring unwrapped articles
for the auction, and the
proceeds will be for the
Leisure Club.
