Christine Erb, 4-H ambassador
Chris Erb
Christine Erb has been
selected by the 4-H Citizen
Ambassador Program of
Washington, DC to partici-
pate in an exchange pro-
gram to Europe.
The 4-H Citizen Am-
bassador Program is for 4-H
youths who want to travel
abroad and see several
countries, visit with youth
and experience living with
European families.
As a citizen Ambassador,
Chris will be traveling
through Germany, Holland,
England, Belgium, France,
Switzerland, Denmark,
and Russia with 30 other
young people from all over
the United States.
Chris is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur N.
Erb, R.D. #1, Mount Joy.
She was an active member
of the Elizabethtown-Done-
gal 4-H Community Club,
Mount Joy 4-H Sewing
Club, Mount Joy 4-H Cake
Decorating. Club, and was
co-president of Lancaster
4-H County Council in
1974-75. She is also an
active member of the
Marietta Congregational
Bible Church.
Donegal Boat
Club to meet
A work detail is planned
for April 24 & 25 by
members of the Donegal
Boat Club. All members are
urged to bring shovels and
rakes in the a.m.
Volunteers Bridgett & Hess
honored by Head Start
The Lancaster Volunteer
Service Center, as part of
this week’s Volunteer Re-
cognition Week, has re-
cognized Brady Hess and
Romaine Bridgett as two of
their outstanding volun-
teers. Here is what Volun-
teer Center officials had to
say about Mr. Hess and
Mrs. Bridgett.
Brady Hess is one of our
most devoted volunteers at
the Mount Joy Center.
Brady Hess helps us out
every day for two hours in
the afternoon. At3 p.m., all
the kids begin to worry if he
isn’t there to fasten the
seatbelts and act as bus aid
on the afternoon bus run.
Brady is retired from Ger-
berich-Payne Shoe Com-
pany, where he worked for
48 years. He is an active
member of the Florin Fire
Company and received re-
cognition last year for his
years of dedicated service.
He’s a big help to us and we
hope that he enjoys us as
much as we enjoy him.
Romaine Bridgett recent-
ly volunteered a morning
out of her busy schedule to
come into our center and
King & Queen to be
crowned in Marietta
A King or Queen Contest,
sponsored by the Marietta
Recreation Association, will
be conducted from May 1
thru June 11, in cooperating
merchants shops in Mari-
etta. Photos and money
canisters will be placed to
receive votes for the public’s
favorite candidate at Ic
each.
Parents wanting to enter
thier child may call either of
the co-chairpersons, Mrs.
Vickie Carroll, 426-3958 or
Sandra Pittenturf at 426-
1269.
All candidates must live
in the boro of Marietta, be 1
to 3 years of age and be
entered prior to May 1. The
winner will be crowned at 1
p.m., the day of the Fair and
will receive a $25 bond and a
trophy, the runner-up will
receive a trophy. All entrees
will receive a gift.
Theme for this years
annual parade and fair is
‘““Happy Birthday America”
which will be held on Satur-
day, June 12. Rain date for
the fair will be Sunday, June
13.
Profit from the event will
be used to underwrite the
costs of operating the
supervised summer play-
ground activities at War
Memorial Park.
Friends of hospital
meet in E-Town
The Association of
Friends of the Elizabeth-
town Hospital for Children
and Youth will hold its
Spring General Meeting
Sunday, April 25, 1976, at 7
p.m., in the Hospital
Auditorium.
The program ‘“What’s a

be presented by Larry L.
Ackerman, M.D., Hershey
Medical Center and Eliza-
bethtown Hospital for Child-
ren and Youth.
Refreshments will be

throughout the county for
her work with the Lancaster
Opera Workshop and many
other choral groups. She
teaches voice at her home. It
has been said that children
are her best audiences and
she proved it when twenty
active Head Start children
sat spellbound for 30 min-
utes, learning new songs
and listening to ‘“The Three
Bears’ a story sung by Mrs.
Bridgett.
