FLORIN CHURCH
Rev. and Mrs. Earl
Ziegler, Quarryville, will be
the leaders of a Family
Institute this Saturday and
Sunday in the Florin Church
of the Brethren in Mount
Joy.
This institute will involve
the whole family, opening
with a covered dish supper
in the church Fellowship
Hall at 6 p.m., on Saturday.
The evening session is en-
titled: ‘“All in the Family’
and will interest all ages
from 3rd grade up. Babysit-
ting service is being pro-
vided for small children of
second grade and under.
Sunday morning, Mrs.
Vivian Ziegler will meet
with a number of the adult
classes at 9 a.m., Sunday
School hour, and bring the
message, ‘‘The Power of a
Woman’ at the morning
worship at 10 a.m.
The Institute will climax
with the Sunday afternoon
séssion beginning at 1:30
p.m., when the theme of
Rev. and Mrs. Ziegler will
be ‘‘The Ideal Parents of
1976.”
Rev. Earl Ziegler is well
known as a personal and
marriage counselor. He is
pastor of the Mechanic
Grove Church of the Breth-
ren, Quarryville, a member
of the Board of Directors of
Elizabethtown College, and
a member of the General
Board of his denomination.
Mrs. Ziegler is a recogn-
ized authority in her own
right, home maker, musician
a member of Standing
Committee of Annual Con-
ference, and a valued
team-member in the area of
family counselling.
The general public is
invited to this Family
Institute at the Florin
Church. Youth, young
couples and grandparents
are especially encouraged to
attend.
Rev. Koder to retire
The members of the
Trinity Lutheran Church,
Mount Joy, will honor their
pastor, Rev. W. Lester
Koder and his wife with a
Congregational Dinner on
the occasion of Pastor
Koder’s retirement. The
dinner will be held on Sun-
day, April 2, 1976 in the
church dining hall.
Pastor Koder began his
ministry at Trinity on
February 23, 1938. His
resignation becomes effec-
tive May 31; however, his
last service will be May 2.
That afternoon, the con-
gregation will hold a public
reception in the church from
3 to S p.m. Anyone who
would like to express his
appreciation to Pastor and
Mrs. Koder for their 38
years of service to the
church and community is
invited to attend.
Trinity, whose charter
dates back to 1827 has
acquired a new education
building in 1950 and a new
sanctuary in 1970 under
Rev. Koder’s leadership.
Membership in the church
has grown from 279 in 1938
to its present enrollment of
596.

high school classmates,
REV. & MRS. CLAIR L.
WAGNER JR.
The Rev. and Mrs. Clair
L. Wagner, Jr., will share a
dramatic dialogue sermon at
Glossbrenner United Meth-
odist Church, Mount Joy, on
Sunday, April 25, in the 9:30
a.m. worship service. The
sermon, entitled ‘*All on an
Easter Evening’’ was writ-
ten by John B. Wintermute.
Pastor Wagner will assume
the role of Thomas, one of
the disciples, and Mrs.
Wagner will enact the role
of Mary from Magdala.
The Senior Choir will sing
the anthem ‘‘Methinks I
Hear the Heavens Re-
sound’’ by Bedell.

Rev. Koder holds bachelor
degrees from Muhlenburg
College and from the Luth-
eran Theological Seminary
at Mount Airy, Philadel-
phia. He also holds a master
of divinity degree from
Mount Airy.
Before coming to Mount
Joy he was pastor of the
Spies-Oley Lutheran Parish
in Berks County for three
years.
Mrs. Koder, a graduate of
Elizabethtown College, re-
tired last year after having
taught business education at
Manheim Central High
School for 18 years.
Rev. Koder is a member
of the Mount Joy Rotary
Club. Mrs. Koder is a
member of the Lutheran
Church Women and the
Mount Joy Business and
Professional Women’s Club.
They will retire to their
newly-built home in Mount
Joy and pursue hobbies of
hunting, fishing, golfing,
camping, traveling, garden-
ing, and photography. They
have one son, Peter, who
resides with his wife Grace
and their children, Kathy
and Michael in North Carol-
ina.
Boy Scout
bake sale
Boy Scout Troop #144,
Lancaster, will sponsor a
bake sale at Mailman’s
Department Store, Manor
Shopping Center on May 15.
Any homemade pies, cakes,
or fudge may be brought to
the home of Mrs. Mabel
Hanlen, 145 East Market
Street, Marietta. If a pick up

Troop 144 is for mentally
retarded boys in Lancaster
County.
ST MARY'S
At 7:30 p.m., Thursday,
April 8, St. Mary’s Wo-
men’s Club of Marietta,
held their regular monthly
meeting in the Church
Hall.
Plans were finalized for a
yard sale to be held May 1
(rain date May 8) at 349 East
Market Street, Marietta.
Many goods and usable
items will be available for
sale. At the same time, the
Women’s Club will have a
bake sale.
Arrangements were made
to have a State Policeman
speak to the ladies at the
next meeting on the subject
of Self Defense for Women.
Everyone is invited to hear

This new slate was un-
animously approved and the
ladies will assume their
duties at the May meeting.
The next meeting will be
held at 7:30 p.m., Thursday,
May 13, in the Church Hall.
