METHODIST CHURCH
The Youth Department of
St. Mark’s United Metho-
dist Church, Mount Joy, wil
be in complete charge of the
Sunday Worship (10:15) on
April 25, 1976. Devotions,
greetings, ushering, and
special music will all be
provided from among the
young people of the con-
gregation. This is in keeping
with a long-standing tradi-
tion of the church to fully
integrate youth into the life
and activities of the con-
gregation.
In the evening, at 5:30
p.m., the youth will serve a
supper to senior citizens of
the congregation who will be
their guests. A special slide
presentation will be the pro-
gram feature. There will be
hymn and chorus singing as
well.

Church, Marietta, will spon-
sor a yard sale from 9 a.m.

DEDICATION SERVICES
The West Green Tree
Church of the Brethren,
R.D. #2, Mount Joy has
recently been engaged in an
extensive building program.
The program included the
remodeling of the present
sanctuary and the addition
of a new Christian education
wing. A lot of dreams,
prayers, and plain hard
work will culminate in a
series of upcoming dedica-
tion services.
Four dedication services
have been planned. Satur-
day, May 1, is Community
Night with ministers from
neighboring churches part-
icipating in the services.
The Rev. James Myer,
from White Oak Church of
the Brethren and a repre-
sentative from the Atlantic
Northeast District will bring
the morning message, Sun-
day, May 2, at 10 a.m. Rev.
Myer will speak on the topic
“Energizing the Church.
Sunday afternoon at 2
p.m., the main service of
dedication will be held.
An evening of music is
planned for Sunday even-
ing, May 2.at 7:15 p.m.
An open house will follow
each service. Light refresh-
ments will be served by the
women of the church. The
public is cordially invited to
come and share in these
services of thanksgiving and
dedication.
ST MARK’S
An unusual worship ex-
perience using the German
language as the medium will
be held on Wednesday
Evening, April 21st, in the
sanctuary of St. Mark's
United Methodist Church,
Mount Joy. The service
begins at 7:30 p.m.
The program has been
arranged as a part of the
congregation’s observance
of the bicentennial year. For
many years German was the
language of the people who
made up the membership of
the Evangelical Church and
the Church of the United
Brethren in Christ--which
today are a part of the
United Methodist Church.
The special service also
coincides with the visit to
Mount Joy of two delegates
from the Evangelisch-Meth-
odistische Kirche in Ger-
many to the General Con-
ference of the United
Methodist Church in Port-
land, Oregon. The two
pastors are Walter A. Sier-
ing, Supt. of Berlin, and
Wolfgang Olfermannof
Essen. These gentlemen
have consented to hold the
service. Pastor Siering will
share in the devotions and
Pastor Olfermann will
preach the sermon. Also
participating in the even-
ing’s program will be the
Rev. James Kiefer of Eliza-
bethtown who for a number
of years lived and worked in
Germany serving on the
staff of Child Evangelism
Fellowship. The choir of St.
Mark’s Church will sing
under the direction of Mrs.
Marilyn Miller. Gerald Mil-
ler will be at the console.
CHIQUES UNITED
METHODIST CHURCH
On Sunday, April 25,
1976 during the regular
Worship Hour beginning at
10:30 the youth of Chiques
Church will conduct an
unique Worship Exper-
ience. Ms. Esther Walters
the church organist will ac-
company all singing as well
as the prelude and postlude
on the piano. The call to
Worship will be given by
Sally Lincoln, the opening
song with youth and ton-
gregation will be “Two
Man's Hands’, the congre-
gational prayer with the
modern version of the
Lord’s prayer will be led by
Marc Brumbach. The Child-
ren’s and youth choirs under
the direction of Ms. Schade-
man will present a special
anthem. The scripture read-
ing based on Christ's
Reserection will be read by
Bruce Gundlach, reading
from ‘‘God Is For Real
Man’’. A Space Age Re-
sponsive Reading will be
lead by Curtis Bossert. The
affirmation of faith written
by a Junior High Church
School Class from Washing-
ton DC will be lead by Susan
Gundlach. An unusual type
of prayer will be given by
Scott Hirst. Making the
announcements and giving
the offering prayer will be
Lindsay Herr. During the
offering, the Children’s and
youth choirs will sing ‘God
Loves A Cheerful Giver’ .
The second song with youth
and the congregation will be
“Lord Of The Dance’’. The
message will be presented
by Gerald Alleman who will
in a somewhat different
method explain the Mean-
ing of Worship. The closing
song with the youth and
congregation is from the off
Broadway Musical, ‘‘You're
A Good Man Charlie
Brown’’, titled, ‘‘Happi-
ness’’, which is really the
theme for the Worship
experience. The benediction
will be offered by Gerald
Alleman. A special guest
having a unigue role in the
Worship Experience is Phil
Stauffer from St. Paul's
United Methodist Church,
Elizabethtown.
The Women Society of
Christian Service of Chiques
will pick up the tab for
Sunday dinner for the youth
choirs, they will have a
square meal at the Lancas-
ter Pondarosa Restaurant.
A warm welcome is ex-
tended to friends and
visitors to be a part of this
Worship Experience.
