MARTHA ENGLE
DETWILER
Mrs. Martha Engle Det-
wiler, 65, Lumber Street,
Mount Joy, died early
Sunday morning in Lancas-
ter General Hospital after a
lengthy illness.
Born in Mount Joy, she
was a daughter of the late
Harvey and Lillian Carson
Engle. She was the wife of
Joseph R. Detwiler.
She was a member of the
St. Mark’s United Metho-
dist Church, Mount Joy, and
Dorcas Society of the
church. She was the super-
intendent of the kinder-
garten department of the
Sunday School for many
years.
Her hobby was crewel
work and she was well
known in the area for
monologues and readings.
She was a life-long
resident of Mount Joy.
Besides her husband, at
home, she is survived by
three daughters: Nancy Jo,
wife of Albert C. Newlin Sr.,
Mount Joy; Mrs. Carol L.
Cooper, Mount Joy, and
Cindy L., wife of Kenneth
M. Piersol, Mount Joy R2.
Six grandchildren also
survive along with two
brothers and three. sisters:
Harvey C. Engle, York, SC;
Chester C. Engle, Turners-
ville, NJ; Hilda C. Engle
and Arlene M. Engle, both
of Mount Joy; and Mabel
Jane, wife of Henry K.
Greiner, Elizabethtown.
Obituaries
Joseph F. Blottenberger
Joseph F. Blottenberger,
85, 7 Howard Avenue,
Lancaster, died Tuesday at
10:30 at his home after an
illness of 2 months. He was
a son of the late Daniel and
Annie Maloney Blotten-
berger. He lived in Lancas-
ter for 46 years and in 1965
retired from Armstrong
Cork Company, where he
worked in the stove depart-
ment for 25 years. He was a
member of First United
Methodist Church, Lancas-
ter. He and. his wife
celebrated their SSth wed-
ding anniversary on Decem-
ber 17, 1975.
Surviving, in addition to
his widow, are a son,
Charles C. Blottenberger, at
home; two brothers, Charles
G., Columbia, and Norman
Blottenberger, Maytown,
and a sister, Mrs. Abbie
Ressel, Lancaster.
G. CARL SHENK
G. Carl Shenk, 86, of 2
West High Street, May-
town, died Wednesday at
9:45 a.m., at St. Joseph
Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Mechanics Grove,
East Drumore Township, he
was a son of the late Enos H.
and Katherine Wolf Shenk.
He was the husband of Alice
Blessing Shenk.
He retired in 1957 after
spending 20 years in the
general merchandise busi-
ness in Maytown.
He was a member of St.
John’s Lutheran Church,
Maytown, the Maytown Fire
Company, Maytown Am-
bulance Association, May-
town Golden Age Group,
and for many years was
treasurer of the East Done-
gal Township Municipal
Water Authority.
In addition to his widow,
he is survived by a son,
Lester B., Maytown;
two grandchildren, and one
greatgrandchild.
FLORENCE E. STETTER
Mrs. Florence E. Stetter,
80, formerly of Mount Joy
R1, died Thursday at 1:20
p.m., at Conestoga View.
Born in Lancaster, she
was a daughter of the late
Benjamin and Bertha Gar-
den Pontz and the widow of
Harry J. Stetter.
She lived in Mount Joy for
the past 18 years and prior
to that resided in Lancaster.
Survivors include two
sons and three daughters,
Harry R., Willow Street R1;
Richard P., Bausman;
Evelyn R., wife of William
Hostermayer, Tucson, Arix;
Jean, wife of Arthur Gin-
grich, Lancaster; and
Gladys, wife of Clarence
White, Mount Joy, 12
grandchildren and 16 great-
grandchildren.
Also surviving are a sister
and two brothers; Mrs.
Emma Child, Lititz; George,
Sparta, NC; and William,
Lancaster.

April 25. Artifacts from the
1700’s and 1800's can be
seen before and after the
service. Coffee will be
