The photos will cost $15
each. Prints are 3 inches X 4
inches.
The tintype process does
not require a negative. It
was used during the Ameri-
can Civil War.
Miss MJ pageant

There is still time for local
girls to enter the Miss
Mount Joy Pageant. Con-
‘estants will receive scholar-
ships, merchandise, and
other awards. The Pageant,
sponsored by the Mount Joy
Jaycees and Joycee-ettes is
open to all single girls
between 17 and 2S whe
reside in the Donegal School
District. The Pageant will be
held on Saturday, May 22 at
the W.I. Beahm Junior High
School auditoruim.

should be obtained by Apri
24th. Local people will be
especially interested in this
year’s pageant because

tant.
Because of various as-
pects of processing the
Pennsylvania Pageant re-
servation tickets, it is
necessary to have all orders
in 12 months before the
time of the Pageant which
is scheduled for June 10, 11
and 12. All tickets will have
to be ordered no later than
April 24th. in order to guar-
antee reservations. The
three day Pageant will be
climaxed with the Crowning
of the new Miss Pennsyl-
vania during the Saturday
evening event. Miss Lan-
caster County—1976 will be
featured in this highlighting
Miss
A panel of five judges will
select ‘“‘Miss Mount Joy’
based on personal inter-
views and competition in
talent, evening gown, and
swim suit. Miss Mount Joy
will begin her reign by
presiding over Mount Joy's
week of Bicentennial activi-
ties.
Any girl interested in
entering the Pageant should

Lancaster Countians will
be grouped in one area of
the Altoona auditorium,
each one given a red rose for
the purpose of identifica-
tion. Officials of the Lancas-
ter County Scholarship Pa-
geant also encourage the
displaying of placards and
banners and will personally
cue the group to dramatize
moral support of our own
candidate, Miss Gloria L.
Longenecker.
For the Saturday evening

Mount Joy Boro Council plans
to make
Mount Joy Borough
Council Monday night voted
to make Rose Alley, which
runs south from W. Main
Street, one-way south for a
30-day trial period to see if it
relieves traffic congestion in
the area.
At the same time, busi-
nesses in the Wood Street
area were asked to reroute
heavy trucks to help pre-
serve the streets in that
area.
Council agreed to bag
parking meters along Main
Street for special sales days
at the request of borough
merchants. Meters will be
bagged on Aug. 12-14, Oct.
7-9 and Dec. 10-24.
Council said it will study a
request made by the Mount
Joy Friendship Fire Com-
pany to turn over a $500
rescue saw now used by the
police department to the fire
department. Dough Estock,
fire company president, said
the fire company would have
more use for the saw.
A petition to rezone a five
acre tract along Route 230
from R-3 to general com-
mercial was received from
J.B. Hostetter, the owner of
street one way
the tract. Hostetter said
Hess-Ulrich, a Mount Joy
auto dealer, is interested in
building a new car show-
room on the site. The
matter was referred to the
borough's planning com-
mission.
Bids received on a mower
and garden tractor were
rejected Monday night b

cause of an error in the
published specifications.
The specifications will be
readvertised to include the
fact that the borough wants
to try the mower for 15 days
before signing a final
purchase agreement. |
Council noted that an item |

gram. The borough will
only partially fund the
program, with other finan-
cing coming from service
clubs and parents organiza-
tions. |

County was rejected by
council.
School board to meet Thurs.
The Donegal School
Board will meet on Thurs-
day, April 1S at 8:00 p.m. at
the Washington School.
The board plans to set a
date for Community On
Goverment meeting with
district municipal officials.
Bids on lawn mowers,
incinerators, mowing of
lawns and cafeteria equip-
ment will be opened.
Items to be discussed are:
the recommendation of a
winter coaching staff; a
decision on whether Mount
Joy Boro’s district student
insurance covereage should
be extended to include the
summer playground; plans
for a volutary fluride treat-
ment program at Riverview
School; and discussion on
having the board negotia-
ting team designate for
P.S.E.A. union custodial
negotiations.
Seiler invites public
Seiler Elementary School
and Home meeting will be
held Tuesday, April 27 at
7:15 at Seiler cafeteria.
Election of 76-77 officers
and exploration DARE read-
ing program will be dis-
cussed. Donegal Rythm
Singers under the direction
of Mrs. RoAnn Lau will be
present.
The public is invited.
CCC opposes sewers
Mount Joy Township Con-
cerned Citizens Committee
(CCC), opponents of pro-
posed $5.1 million sewerage
project, have apparently
won a meeting with federal
officials.
Mrs. Donald Yoder, CCC
secretary, told township
supervisors Friday that U.S.
Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) aerial photos
and plans for the 75,000 foot
sewer line, which many
residents claim is too
extravagant, too expensive.
The meeting will iclude
EPA officials, CCC repre-
sentatives, township super-
visors, and the sewer
authority, which approved
the project.
Supervisors also awarded
road material bids for:
Base and blacktop, to
McMinn’s Asphalt, East
Petersburg.
Road oil, to Stapf-Bestco,
Harrisburg.
Stone, to Union Quarries,
Rheems.
A special planning com-
mission meeting was sche-
duled for 7:30 p.m., April 22
to consider changes in the
township zoning ordinance.
